Thank you for joining us again today as we talk about the importance of care for your carpet and how to get the most longevity, the most life span out of your carpet that you can, your carpet is like a pair of good tires. Um, there are two components to it. One, uh, you want to be able to use them and get the full life out of them as you can. How you use them will affect how long they last. If you’re on the highway doing, uh, highway driving, you should be able to get up to 40, 50, 60,000 miles on a pair of set of tires. Now, if you’re driving around the city, it’ll drop quite a bit more. And the reason it’ll drop because you’re doing a lot of starting and stopping, breaking, putting some traction against the tires or accelerating, putting tension against the tires. You push your car forward. A carpet is locked the same way that if you take your carpets and you just have light traffic across it, uh, then the carpet will last for a while. Or if you increase in our parties every day, then the wear on the carpet will increase and it will significantly go up. Tulsa’s Carpet Cleaner since 1998. So if you’ve got two people that live in a house and they work all day and they’re only home in the evenings, then they’ll only have two people home in the evenings where on them now you’ve got 10 people living in a house and they are at school all day and they’re only home in the evenings. You’ll have 10 people walk around on the carpet in the evenings. Now if you’ve got two people who don’t work, they’re retired and they are always home, then you could have two people walking on the carpet all day long as they want around. They could actually put on as much are more aware than the 10 people do in just the evenings cause they get home at six and go to bed at 10 so they only put three hours of wear on it with other people get up at say six in the morning and go to 10 at night. So they put 12 hours of wear and so they can do people 12 hours where there’s 24 hours a day. Whereas 10 people with three hours, that’s 30 hours. So that you can see how that gets pretty close in the amount of where between the two even though it’s just two people in a house, but then there all day long as opposed to 10 people who are only there in the evenings after work or after school. And you’re a, so this could affect how long your carpet lasts.

Now, these are things that you can’t really change exactly, but it is something that you can prepare for knowing that the carpet you’ve got is going to last a certain amount of time or how much time you can get out of it will depend on how well it’s developed or what you’ve done in your schemes. But a lot of it is these are just a static principles. Let us be your carpet cleaner today. So if you had two people on a carpet, rarely you should be able to get 10 2030 years out of your carpet. If you have 10 people in a home, you’re probably going to get 10 years or less out of the carpet just because you’ve got more traffic, more physical wear. Same way, if you’re driving your car around the city, you’re gonna wear the tires out in 20 to 30,000 miles. Well then you can get a lot more miles out of it before you wear the tires out. Now on the other side, if you give it to a teenage boy, teenage can wear out his tires in 10,000 miles or less because he goes around corners too hard. He’s always going in full acceleration. He’ll actually push the brakes and hit the gas at the same time so he can spin his wheels to do a little donut in the parking lot or to spin his tires to make some smoke off the start. So all of a sudden his tires were out in under 10,000 miles instead of making it into 30 or 40 or even 50 like it should. And so these are some of the things that you have rental carpet typically wears out in three to five years, whereas homeowners keep their carbon for 10 to 20 years.

And the reason is because renters don’t think about it like a homeowner does. They don’t take ownership of the carpet. So they’re not backing me. They’re not cleaning the carpets, they’re not doing the things on average that you would do to extend the life of your carpet. And here’s where I get to the second part. What kind of effect did that carpet have on the carpet? That as they were walking around, the fibers themselves are soft and as you step on them, they rub against each other and long as they’re clean and there’s no dust or dirt or debris or stickiness in the carpet, fibers themselves, then each time you step on them, it’s just the fiber being against the fiber. So it will last the maximum amount, the total amount of time it’s supposed to last now as um, just as the air kicks on, dust flies around the air. Um, you have a sticky sugary drink, gets on the carpet. Now I need the dust in the room will attract to that dirt and now it sticks to the carpet in a way that isn’t going to be released. So now you’ve got all of your uh, Dustin dirt and debris. It turns into a sticky sandpaper on the carpet because as people walk across now, the fiber is not rubbing against just the fiber. The fiber is rubbing against the sand and dirt and dust that’s sitting on the fiber and your shoe. And so as you’re walking in or Warrior’s bare feet, it doesn’t really matter what type of surface you have cause you’re the one putting the hundred to 200 pounds of pressure against that fiber.

Now that you’ve pressed it, it’s now rubbed that fiber back and forth and it’s kind of like rubbing your hands back and forth, but then covering them in sand and then trying to rub them back and forth. It will get raw real quick. If you’ve ever been at the beach and been playing there for a while, it’s real easy to get blisters or to get, just rub your skin raw because the sand is more aggressive than your skin. And so it will eventually rub it off or wear it out. And this is what happens to your carpet as you are walking around. So this is why it’s important to do the next three super steps. And these three super steps are one, make sure you vacuum on a regular basis. It’s not that the carpets will wear out, is that we leave a gritty dirt source on the carpet and not remove it and then walk on it and over time that wears the carpet out. So number two, you want to make sure that you are containing dirt sources. Have good entry mats have, um, make sure that if you are going to eat over carpet or you didn’t live in room, that you either have like a, something to catch the food with or that you’re on a tray or you have some, some way that you’re not just, you know, you don’t just give a toddler a bowl of Cheerios and let them walk around the house with them cause they’re going to drop the cheery as people are gonna step on the chairs. They’re going to turn into crumble churros in the carpet and it’s going to wear the carpet down fast. And the number three, when your carpets get sticky or oily, you need to have the carpets professionally cleaned because now you can’t vacuum the dirt off the carpet because it’s sticking to something. So now you need a hub, hot water extraction rinse to rinse the dirt out of the carpet to extend the life in the carpet. And some people ask accountant, can it be cleaned on a regular basis? Yes.
