And today we’re going to talk about, um, uh, making sure that you either are skilled enough that you can accomplish what you want to do, or that you have somebody skilled enough to accomplish what you want to do. We’ve all had that example or the time where we’ve watched the outtakes or the extras from American idol, where you have a, um, a young man or young lady who comes on and they just can’t sing worth a lick. They do try, but they sound like a goat in heat. Um, it sounds like a sheep crying for his mother. It’s kind of just bleeding your ears ringing that kind of hurts. And you almost can’t listen to it, but it’s like a train wreck.
You just can’t take your eyes away from it. And you’re thinking, man, that could be done better or not, not as good. It’s like, you’re Hey, this isn’t the, you know, the situation that I really want to be in this person should have had somebody at some point, tell them that either one, you need to work a lot harder to become better or two, you need to let somebody else do it. You need somebody else to do it. Instead of you. For example, uh, some people are just not mechanically inclined and they try to fix something that’s electrical in their house. They’re going to set their house on fire. They need to hire an electrician to come in, who has the mechanical skills to do that. Other times I could do it. I’ve watched the YouTube video, but I need to practice a few times before I actually do it for real.
Uh, for example, if I want to do a patch in my Carpet Cleaning Broken Arrow, I need to make sure that that patch system, that thing that I’ve done is when I go to a customer’s house is not the first time I’ve done that kind of patch. I need to have practice many times somewhere else first so that I can become skilled enough to be able to go and do it where it’s at. Um, even on our house, I’ll do a YouTube video. I’ll watch some of the things think, Hey, I can figure this out. I’m pretty, I’m pretty hands-on type of guy. I’ve got a Jack of all trades, kind of a deal of thought to it. And as I go through and I look at it, I realize, okay, I’ve got this, I’ve done this enough. Um, what I need now is the capacity to do it perfectly the first time, or is this something that I can do at once?
If it messes up, I just scrap it and try again, some things you only get one shot at it, or you have to replace it. And so you’ve got one fix or it’s going to have to a full replacement. Of course, there’s the old adage goes. Um, if it doesn’t fix force, if it doesn’t fit, force it Carpet Cleaning Broken Arrow. And if it breaks well, then you needed to replace it. Anyway, of course, I think, you know, as all joking aside, the reality that you want to try to make it work first time, so you don’t have to do it twice as the old app, um, saying that we’ve got here at our company is, um, shortcut is the longest way to do something. If you’ve got a shortcut while you’re driving, it means you drive it across the grass. So you’re giving up, you know, the underside or the quality of your car by going over rough terrain, as opposed to having smooth paved areas. So you can always go to somewhere as the Crow flies and you can just, boom, go straight D-line to it. But you’re going to beat up the underside of your car in some form of fashion, up with mud along the sides. Now you got to wash your car. You end up with, uh, you know, uh, picking up a nail or a sticker, something that’s in the grass. You didn’t see any in a pop-in attire end up with a lot of stuff that could potentially cause issues going forward. So you want to make sure that you have trained somebody find someone who is well-trained or train yourself to accomplish whatever task it is.
And of course, all throughout life, you want to be improving yourself so that you have a wider base of knowledge that somebody can’t scam it. Most people get scammed because they find an expert that they think is an expert, and then they trust them completely. And if they don’t trust them completely, well, then they have a hard time with, um, binding what it is that they’re going to try to accomplish and do, uh, because they don’t know what they’re supposed to do. You know, if I add a Oh a program or come in and try to talk to me about the programming, I don’t really know if he’s a good or bad program, or because I don’t understand the programming language he’s working in. So he could tell me all kinds of just a jargon. And I would just assume he’s correct Carpet Cleaning Broken Arrow. And it, and yet he wasn’t, uh, there’s a famous scene in, um, or a scene in catch me if you can, where it comes up.
And he looks at a doctor, who’s got a patient he’s assessed the patient. And they didn’t know what was supposed to be done. So he had to rely on other people’s knowledge. They all could lie to him. And he would have been none the wiser because he didn’t have enough experience, enough knowledge to know what he had done in the book. Caffeine can, he does say that by the end of that year or two, he learned a ton about medical stuff and actually was up to speed where he pretty much knew how to run the hospital properly just because he was there listening to the people, doing it. So sometimes just being in the situation, being around the people, you start to accumulate knowledge that you didn’t want to do. And I think one thing that you can do to help you with these things is how do you document what you’re doing this time so that this could be the last time that you have to do it.
A lot of times we have a great idea. We want to do it, but we’re running out of time ourselves, but you can’t get anyone else to do it because there’s no way there’s no process laid out on how to do it the way that you like it done. But if you lay it out the way you like it done, then someone else could walk in and look at that, that document and say, I’ll do it the way that he did it.
