I will be covering the best tool and the best tech skilled technician we covered in the previous episode about how, um, a lot of people nowadays will like to macgyver things where you’ve got a really amazing need, skilled technician who is able to take something and shortcut what actually the normal repair that needed to be done, shortcut it, condense it down into very small area.
[01:04] And typically those shortcuts are not an actual fix. They’re not an actual solution. They are a temporary patch there. Just something that is in place to get you by just just kind of hobble you buy for a little bit. Um, we gave the example of a macgyver taking and fixing a brake line with a strong and duck tape. And so that’s not, that’s not gonna be the best vehicle to be driving around in from that point forward, but it will at least get the vehicle to stop so that the repairs can actually be done. And so many times people do that, macgyver, that shortcut as the actual repair an actual way. It should be done. So many times I’ve seen carpet cleaners that will just go out and just, just to clean the surface dirt off the spots as opposed to spending the extra time to actually clean out everything and get down deep into the, uh, deep down into what needs to be done for that particular carpet because I personally wanted to make sure that every job we do it makes it easier for me the next time I come out there, if I can get the carpets as clean as possible the first time because then all the next time I come out to clean, there’s only the amount of dirt from the date that I cleaned it until now that it’s built up, it doesn’t still have dirt sitting in there from before that is continuing to get ground in.
[02:10] It’s now fresh and clean and there’s just a small amount of dirt that’s gotten in there. Um, we want to talk now about the best tool versus the best skill of the technician. And I think a macgyver makes it great, great usage for this particular point. Carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. I’ve seen so many times where I’ve come across a job and I. We don’t have any more specific equipment than typically anybody else does. I’m a good example. Would be a painter, a, they just have a brush. They just have some paint and a canvas and really anybody can do it. If I. my kids, they used to love to paint when they were little. They did finger painting and so they would take their fingers that stick them into paint and then they kind of just rub and smeared across a page and this made for some really fun art there, you know, you could tell that a kid had done it was very interesting and now as my children have grown older, my oldest is just loves to draw.
[03:05] She does faces and she actually does a very good job of faces and she’s now taking a pencil and creating a portrait of somebody that looks almost exactly like the person. I mean it’s not quite photograph level, but it is pretty close to it and you give me a pencil. I can write my name, I can write all kinds of different things on that paper, but I’m not going to write something. I’m not going to draw something that, that is going to equip be anybody’s going to look at and go, Oh yeah, that actually looks like so and so. Now I’m going to look. Maybe Mickey mouse is probably my clothes. I can make one big circle, two circles in each side and then the eyes and a big smile. Um, and that’s about it. I’m not going to make something that looks photo realistic too where you could say, oh, that looks like a self portrait of someone that looked like you were able to draw that of what that person actually looked like.
[03:52] And so that is where the skill of the technician comes in. She, I could go out there and buy the very best paint and the very best brushes I could go out there and find the very best colored pencil or pencils. But I’m never going to make a photo that looks a picture that looks like a photo. I’m never going to make a, um, a, a, a, a portrait of somebody that’s going to look realistic because I have not put the skill in, I’m not put the time in the practice and to learn the skill that makes, do so, any tool is only as good as the person who is using it. One of my favorite examples of this, and I unfortunately do not remember the name, but there was a famous older golfer who went out there and he actually went on one of the tours, one of the championships, and to show everybody that the new clubs and all of the new fancy technology and hardware, um, really didn’t make the difference.
[04:42] It was the skill of the person playing a Carpet Cleaning Tulsa since 1998. I’ve run into so many different situations where this is very true and what we’re doing that, um, I wasn’t, I didn’t have something that some other carpet cleaner didn’t have. I just had the experience that they didn’t have to be able to use what I had in a better way. And um, and so he went through and took an old wood. Wouldn’t set of clubs a modern clubs are all steel or carbon fiber or you know, they’re all specialty metal constructions, but the old clubs actually had a wooden head on them and they actually had wouldn’t shafts and so he took an old set of clubs just to show everybody went out, played the competition and shot under par. I think he won on that particular one or came in like third or fourth with like 75 year old clothes for all these people are using these brand new high end computer designed engineered clubs and he was able to go out there and beat them with the cheapest oldest just stuff because he said, you know what, the skill of the person using the item always will trump the item itself and what you can do with that item is always going to be bested by the person using the item.
[05:51] And so I think that really comes down and especially with our business, we’ve always tried to make sure that we have very good skill. Just having great equipment all by itself won’t change the. The, the ability of what you have, you need to put in the time, put in the work, put in the effort and the time to know what it is that you are going to do.
