Um, we tried to just maintain the general health and wellbeing of your carpet. We are Tulsa’s carpet cleaning experts here in this episode. We’re going to continue what we had talked about last time when different chemicals and what they can do and how you can use them.
[00:55] And one of the things I think that’s extremely important while going through this process is that, that you make sure that you maintain the health and wellbeing of your carpet and a lot of that comes with making sure you’re using the right chemical in the right way. I’m using the wrong chemical can cause a terribly wrong reaction just to give a couple of different examples of times where in all the years of doing this that I’ve come across customers that I’m not because they didn’t know better just because it was just an accident, something they weren’t thinking about. Or sometimes you do have people who know better and they do it, do it anyway. Um, for example, um, I’ve had customers come through carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. I’ve had many examples of where a customer come home, the kids have done something upstairs and it Kinda freaked out because they know they’re going to really take off the parents because they weren’t supposed to have whatever it was that they were doing upstairs.
[01:47] And so they go downstairs, they go into the kitchen and they grabbed something from under the sink. They know that this stuff from under the sink is something that was used because I, you know, when there is that mark on the counter, we always grab out this product to remove the marks off the counter and so we grabbed that, that product from underneath the sink, cleaned those, cleaned the spots off the counters, and we take it upstairs and start using it on the carpet. Now, the problem with this particular theory in this particular ideas that most all of your kitchen chemicals are bleach based because they’re meant to both sanitized but also to remove the coloring that’s in so much food and drink materials. And so a lot of times we get color on a countertop. The only way to get it out is to bleach it out.
[02:28] And so you get a little bit of a 409 or some type of product that goes for your countertops are kitchen countertops and use it on your carpet. And the spot may come out, it may start to look a little better because it is breaking down whatever’s in the carpet. It does break it out. Um, and they just used that with a rag and they just kind of rub it in. So really what they’re doing, since they never take any water to rinse it out there, spraying the chemical and the chemical dilutes the, the item, it now spreads out a little farther and now it’s sort of like a little kid taking all of his vegetables that he doesn’t want to eat. He chops them up, smushes them down, flattened and spreads them as a thin layer all the way across this plate. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa So it looks like he’s eaten the food where really it’s just now spread over a larger area over his place and all concentrated in one spot.
[03:13] And so they walk away going, Yep, the area looks clean. Nobody will know I ever had this offending area, did this awful thing. I mean, you know, whatever it may have been ketchup’s ketchup packets or drink or whatever they had upstairs. And so you come, they’ll come downstairs and so a day, a week, a month later, the parent goes upstairs to wherever this spot was. But now that spot is no longer the spot. You don’t see what was there, but you do notice something is different about the carpet carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. One of the things that these parents will run into as they go up there to check these new areas that had been cleaned by a chemical not designed for carpet, is that nine times out of 10 the color will start falling out of the carpet. One thing about a bleach based product is that until the bleach is neutralized, it continues to bleach.
[03:59] Even if it’s a very light solution. It will continue for weeks and weeks and even sometimes up to a year to keep polling color out of that carpet until that bleaches neutralized. It just keeps working on the carpet and so you’ll come back later and it’s gone to a weird orange color. I kind of lemon yellow color. It’s just continued to pull the color out of that carpet and now you’ve got even up to a completely white spot of carpet. One of the extreme examples I ran into a was I went to a house where they said, okay, this other side of the head of the table, it was on a dining room table, the other side over there, they had a lot of pet pee spots and so we decided to try to knock those out. We wanted to use some bleach, so we did a 50 slash 50 bleach water solution sprayed over the area and uh, cleaned out the pet spot.
[04:44] The problem is that the next day all of the color came out of the carpet. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa So it went from being a kind of a top brown carpet to a pure white carpet because he used a very strong bleach solution. Now he never went through and rinsed out the bleach solution. He just left it, let it dry it in the carpet. And so a year later I’m there and he’s wanting to patch the carpet because he’s got this big white spot. He realized there’s nothing he can do to bring the color back. So we’re wanting to cut that spot out and get a good piece of carpet. He has extra carpet and we’re just gonna Patch with that. That went over the to deal with the carpet. I went to touch it and as I put my hand across it, every single one of the fibers in that area all fell out.
[05:19] They had the bleach had broken down the fiber at this base and it actually did just completely dissolved the glue in the bottom of the carpet. He continued to eat it over the last year to where it was almost dust. It was almost like a gritty powder kind of like grits or something. It just. I reached there and I kind of rubbed across it and all the carpet and the fibers and everything was just almost turned into just dust or ash and all the fibers are sitting there, but as soon as you touched them, they just crumbled underneath your finger. Now the fibers around the area, we’re still good, so we were able to cut that whole area out, put a new piece of pat in, put a new piece of carpet in and so it looked good even even til today, but that that bleach can be extremely caustic and people don’t realize how caustic bleach can be.
