Um, we’re going to talk in this episode about the importance of doing a job right the first time. We’ve touched on this topic quite a few times in passing and not a lot of the previous episodes, but I wanted to dedicate a little bit of time specifically to doing.
[00:49] I’m just over this particular one. We touched on it earlier by calling it the macgyvering of that the shortcut is not always the fastest way to get something done and when, and the reason for that is if you’re thinking on the broad spectrum of things, the shortcut is the fastest way to get something functional. Again, you get it just kind of up and running, but that doesn’t mean that it’s repaired. That doesn’t mean that it’s actually going to work. So if you take a time, let’s say that you go through and you’ve got a tire and you know, there’s a big, uh, oh, let’s take something else. I’d say I’m a small kid’s toy and you take a piece of scotch tape and um, and it’s, uh, like a rubber raft that’s going to go in the pool until you put a piece of scotch tape over a puncture hole in the raft.
[01:41] You can just grab the tape, pull it out, boom, put it over there, blow it up, and it’s going to hold for that time being. Carpet cleaning Tulsa But as soon as you put it into the pool or it gets into the environment again, then that tapes going to quickly peel off and then the is going to keep blowing air and so you’ll grab another piece of tape and you’ll boom covered over and now now it’s working again and then that get too wet and it goes over and then it falls off again and now the whole is blowing. Let’s say you grab another piece of David, so this kind of keeps going on and on and the problem never gets fixed. So you are perpetually taping it back up. You’re perpetually doing the shortcut over and over and over and over and over and over and for the life of that particular kid’s toy.
[02:22] If you continue to just try to maintain that shortcut, it will actually take you a tremendous amount of extra time compared to if when you first got that kid’s toy, the little inner tube a raft, and instead of putting some, some tape on it or a little duct tape or something that you know is going to peel off over time. If you actually took one of the heat guns and put a patch and actually took, which takes, it probably takes two to maybe three times as long to do that little gun patch, but you can actually put it over and remelt in the glue and actually seal that spot off. So will will never leak again. Then for the rest of the life of that, that inner tube, while the kid is playing with it, you’ve now spent, let’s just call it two minutes, we’ll say two minutes to do the long patch and it’ll take you 60 seconds to put a piece of tape on it, but you may have over the life of that thing, you may put five, six, seven, eight, nine different pieces of tape trying to keep that whole covered up.
[03:15] So now you’re up to eight, nine, 10, 15 minutes maybe on just trying to maintain, Carpet cleaning Tulsa um, the shortcut fix. Whereas the originally, if you just spent twice the amount of original time and just two minutes, you would have repaired the permanently repaired the item. And so, so many times people get in there and they’re just looking for a shortcut fix to get by on a situation for right now, not looking at the longterm impact that it has. And so, um, we here it complete carpet, carpet cleaning, Tulsa community since 1998. We always look for the longterm impact. We don’t, uh, we don’t want to do a quick fix solution. We want to find out what is the best way to do this because we want to make longterm customers out of you. We’re not trying to just get by on one quick cleaning and then we’re in and out of your hair.
[03:59] We want to be able to make you a customer for life. And so the only way that we could do that is that by each time that we come out there to take care of your carpet, we take care of it for your carpet the right way the first time. And that way it does two things. One, it will save us lots of money, but we may spend more time on that job the first time because we’re trying to get it done right, but we don’t have to come back and keep redoing it because we didn’t. We did a shortcut and we didn’t get it done completely right the first time. Also, the next time we come to clean those carpets, anything that we leave in the carpet, anything that we shortcut that didn’t quite get it completely clean or white, done the right way.
[04:33] We’re going to address that the next time that we come to clean the carpet. So when we come back again, um, it’s going to be more difficult for us because we left something in there. So we’ve left something that’s going to be a job or you’re going to be work for us the next time. So it’s much better just to do it the first time, right? That way the next time you come it will be much easier to do a re to do that. Next cleaning, maintenance, that item. Carpet cleaning Tulsa it’s radic communities.
