I had worked at the summer as wanting to have my, uh, wanting to start to build a computer company.
[00:52] I thought I would just build and sell computers and make, you know, kind of put together custom pcs. I’m back at the time della was just, Dell was just kind of a new thing and it was real popular. There was a lot of other little small startup companies that would sell computer parts or do little custom things and I wanted to do that. That’s just, that seemed like that was my niche. I just loved tinkering and messing with computers and you know, it was one of my, one of the things that just brought me joy still to this day, I do love computers, could be or gaming. I’m building pcs and fixing and troubleshooting, you know, getting my, getting real tech technical about stuff. And so I had gone to work for Trugreen chemlawn and had worked there for a month to be able to save up enough money to buy a computer that has got to build this computer and that was going to sell it.
[01:35] And then I’d sell that computer. Then I buy or build another one and it’s held that computer. Well, I hadn’t thought it all the way through because if you build a computer that you really like, um, you then have to find somebody else who likes that computer specifically that wants to buy that computer. And so I built a computer just the way that I thought the best computer should be built and it was a great computer and I ended up keeping that computer for a very long time because it was very difficult to sell a really high end nice computer when other people were not looking to use it in the same way that I was. All the friends that I knew didn’t have jobs or large amounts of money that they could spend on a high end gaming computer. Carpet cleaning Tulsa Anybody else then I tried to talk to, wasn’t looking at using computers as a gaming facility and so they were mainly just looking for a workstation or something along those lines.
[02:19] And they wanted something that was, you know, a half or a third. The price that was more geared towards just data entry, which I didn’t care at all about because I wasn’t going to use a computer just to enter numbers in. I wanted something that could really do something, you know, they want to do like crunch some cad, you know, do some video editing, do some audio editing, you know, created a mod file so you can create your own custom for channel or 16 channel music files. And so I made the grievous error of making a product before I knew that I could sell the product. A carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. We were moving back before I got there. This is the year before I had started with our carpet installation and cleaning company. And um, and so I had this car computer that I built and now I did not want to go back to the grind of just perpetual phone calling eight hours a day, five days a week. Carpet cleaning Tulsa
[03:09] So I decided that I would wait. I would just put my computer companies dreams on hold until I found a way to get around to finding what it is that I really wanted to do with the company that I was going to be a building. I’d find another way to bring up the capital and get the money that I needed to be able to start my computer company. And so the next way that I thought that I would try to address that would be that I would go through and, uh, build a, uh, come up with something else as another revenue stream for my company because I just knew that at some point I would just have a carpet, a computer company and that, that will be it. You could go back in here on my previous podcast and what I did and how I ended up with in the carpet install installing sector and how we went through that particular process of getting back to their carpet.
[03:55] Carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. One of the first contract was with the Tulsa Housing Authority, which really drove me back into, you know, not trying to just run after whatever the next big thing was, but to actually sit down and say, look, I’ve got a skill set, I need to use that skill set and find a way that I can really help customers instead of just always chasing what is it I think is going to be the next thing that will just float my boat. Let’s, let’s do something consistent to become good and just, you know, money comes slowly overtime, you know, no real get rich quick scheme. But for the computer side of it, I did give it another go a couple of years later after making money off the carpet installation. And then in carpet cleaning I realized, you know what, now I’ve got the capital, I got some extra money, I’m gonna Invest in myself.
[04:37] I’m going to start another business. And so in 2011 I started a business called comp care. She had a yellow page advertisement and everything. The problem is, is in the end of 2000 and to 2000, one was the.net bubble burst and the, uh, there was a flood of guys during this time and the Tulsa area that all were high end tech guys who knew everything about computers, how to build them, how do everything and now were unemployed and we’re looking for work. And so there was a huge amount of guys that all started up computer repair companies and computer building companies. And so that year it was just a swamp of companies out there. And so I did very little work because I realized I didn’t have the work. I had to stay with what I was doing. I was getting lots of traction on cleaning carpets and repairing carpets and I’m installing carpets. Carpet cleaning Tulsa
[05:23] And so I just, between the two of them are realized after about six months of trying to do both, I was like, I’ll keep the carpet stuff that’ll pay so that I can afford to buy all the parts for the, the computer business. And after awhile I realized, um, I get all of this, this traction, I get all of this traffic coming towards me wanting me to do the carpet cleaning and stuff, and nobody’s really calling and asking me to do the computer stuff. And so I realized, you know what, sometimes you take what life, hands you. And I think in this instance I probably did the right thing because I’ve had great success and I’ve really had consistent says great, great customers. And I’ve, uh, you know, life sometimes just gives you what it is that you need. And I needed that consistency. I needed that revenue stream. Carpet cleaning Tulsa
[06:03] And um, and by just consistently getting here, it has always helped me to take care of my kids, taking care of my family. I’ve been able to be able to do it in policy. I’ve know it so well. It’s never brought me any type of stress or or relief. I just instantly go out there and know what I’m going to do.
