One, eight, four, nine, four, seven, zero, nine, three. Now continuing on our story about how the next adventure, I think like every little boy who started a headache, I was around 12, 13 years old.

I had a lawn company that we, that I did for a summer, bought a lawnmower and a weed eater and went out and print it out a couple hundred flyers and went down through an entire neighborhood and put fliers on every single door trying to get everyone interested in. I ran back to the phones and just sat next to the phones for the next two or three days and nobody called and I was just so disappointed. I thought I’d, you know, what else can I do? I’ve, I’ve gone to every single house. I put up flyers everywhere that I knew and so I just. It was all cold. I just figured that’s what you did. You put up a flyer in that and you can get business. And so they were. But they were all cold flyers. Like none of those people knew me. They ain’t had no idea who this flyer was.

I’m sure the majority of them took the flyer off the door, threw it away as soon as they walked in the house and they just had no point of connection. And so I talked to my dad and he said, well, I mean the first thing you need to do is you need to find the warm contacts, the warm leads, not just, you know, randomly catching people on the street, but you need to try to see a few people who will be able to test to give you a testimonial or be able to do it for you. Whether you do it for free or whether you get them who will pay for you. But at least that way you’ve got a few people who can say, Oh yeah, I’ve done his work. I’ve seen what he can do. He could do good work for me. And over the whole summer, even if you do one or two for free, they need to get their lawn mowed the entire summer.

So now they know someone that they can call on in case they just decide they don’t want to do it. Maybe they’ll do the mowing themselves and then towards the end of the summer and he’ll run it a couple of to say, oh wait, you know, I’m tired of doing this or I can’t do it, or I’m on vacation. I need someone to cover me while I’m on vacation. So I called all my dad’s friends or he called them for me and just let them all know that, hey, his son was doing some motion and if you wouldn’t mind trying them out, he would, you know, definitely try to do the best work. And one of the things that he told me that I thought is just so important and I really hadn’t thought of carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. We’re talking about some of the early stuff that we tried before getting into the carpet cleaning business a full on, um, is that he mentioned.

My father had mentioned to me and said that, um, you know, the most important thing that you do, if you ever do for people that you know, you want to start off doing work for people you know, because you will, they will be the most forgiving. They’re going to allow you to make as many errors as you need to and you know that you’ve got to do the very best job possible for them because if you don’t do a fantastic job for them, they’re going to see you next time. They’re going to see you later and you were going to be embarrassed or you’re going to feel bad. If you do a terrible job for them so you better work your rear off and find out what the best way to do everything that you can so that you can keep those people in your good graces.

Because these are your friends. These are people you’re going to have to connect with and that you really need to go above and beyond for. And it’s always helped me ever since, to really have a few of those types of people that you can just go and you can make sure, hey, you know, give me a really honest assessment. Someone that actually will say, hey, this is fantastic, or man, you really need to work on this. This just doesn’t look right. And I think having those close friends that have the capacity to speak into your life in that way, to be able to tell you, hey, your brand is just not working or that you need to fix this aspect of, of the way that you are presenting or the way that you’re communicating with people so that you will to get the very. You can continue to improve, continue to get better and continue to up the scale and up what it is that you can do for people.

Carpet cleaning Tulsa. Since 1998. We were talking about some of the businesses that we started before getting into complete carpet. And so after one long summer of, uh, of cutting yards, there was one thing that I finally realized towards the end of the year after, you know, I did, I did my very best job for every single job. I slowly started getting some people that did call and as people, I did jobs for other people than they would recommend me to someone else. And by the end of the summer I realized I do not like working outside and being hot and sweaty all day long. And so, you know, it’s one of those times, sometimes you think you have a great idea and you’re gonna really get out there and make it work. And then you get out and you do it for awhile and you realize, okay, I do like working.

I do like dealing with people and customers. But I do not like being hot and sweaty all day long. Um, I like, I want to find a job where I could do something maybe inside. And so that way I can connect with people and service what it is, something that they need me to do, what I could do it on an inside side to where I’m not always hot and sweating and don’t happen to move these big things around. And also at the time, since it was smaller, my dad was always busy working. I had normally had to push the lawnmower to whatever the house was in the neighborhood that I had to get to. And so there was this know half hour long track of bringing all of the items that I needed to and trying to optimize the situation that I could carry it all in one go.

But then you spend all this time walking down there and then finished mowing the yard. Now you’re hot and you’re sweating and got to carry all this stuff back again. So I decided, you know, what, I need to try something different. And so the next, um, I think it was about two years later, I got the opportunity to do a, another avenue, another business. My sister was in the pageant system. Uh, we are talking about carpet cleaning Tulsa and surrounding communities. It’s 1998. Before we started complete carpet, we had a lawn care company called Lawn Care Tulsa. After one year of doing that I realized that I had, I felt like I was now called to do something different and do not want to repeat that particular thing. So I went into a film. I’m doing videography for pageant systems. My sister was in a pageant system at the time.

It was the little Miss Oklahoma pageant system and so at one of the early, Carpet Cleaning Tulsa, you know, local pageants that she was in, my mom had me film her because she wanted to remember what it was like, but also she, so she could see what she was doing, her performance was doing so she could watch the film later and try to improve upon it and see what other people were doing and try to learn from their mistakes and learn from their successes. And as I’m sitting there filming, some of the other mothers came and asked because the entire event was not filmed. That came and asked her if I could, um, if I was, if I was the photographer, a videographer for the whole thing. And of course I’m not, I’m just ugly. No, I’m just here for my sister. I’m doing a couple of things and by the end of that first one I had so many people combine ask if I, with the videographer that I decided that I went and talked to the organizers of the event and I said, you know, would there be any problem with me selling some of these videos, um, to these other mothers who keep coming and asking me if I can, if I’m videoing the event and you don’t have a videographer here.

And they said no. I said we’ve got a main big or a videographer for the championship, for the, for the State Championship, Carpet Cleaning Tulsa for the state pageant system. But for the local level ones and all the regional ones, we don’t have any set videographer. If you want to go and do it, you can be our videographer for this year.
