We talked in the last couple of podcast episodes about starting a lawn mowing business, like almost every little boy, I’m sure as in the past had that twinge in their eye that thought in their process of what we do is that they could accomplish by just mowing yards.

And for me that was out hot, sweaty, hard work. And I, I’m not that I’m against hard work, but I just decided at the end of that that I did not want to be that hot and sweaty and have to always carry that stuff around now. It might’ve been different, a car and I could have carried around, moved all of the equipment with me, but I spent half of the time, Boeing and half of the time carrying all the stuff from my house to whoever’s house it was that I needed to do and then carried it all back again. And so I moved on and decided I got an opportunity to view a video tape for American, Carpet Cleaning Tulsa, Oklahoma, a little little Miss Oklahoma pageant system. And so I took that opportunity and went ahead and did a lot of recording there and realized at the end of that particular season, after that summer was done that I had heard Billy Ray cyrus is achy breaky heart.

I’m 100 to 200 times too many. And I knew that if I go onto the next year, I’d probably have to do the exact same thing. And just sitting there and just holding a camera for eight to 10 hours per day and then spend any of the next really five to six days straight, just spending 20 hours or 15 hours everyday, just recording video tape and watching the same achy breaky heart performance over and over and over and over again was just. It was going to drive me crazy. I just, it just wasn’t for me. It wasn’t my artistic flair. And so after that season I quit and I decided I was not going to do any more videoing that was not going to be my thing. And so I then went on to start into basketball. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa so I really spent the next four or five years of just heavy in basketball.

I mean, every time I had practice, every time that I had free time, every time that I had an opening where I could do something else, I was out there practicing is out there doing my drills during my basketball stuff. And so that became really my life. And I would help my dad at an opportunities when he would do big jobs or need extra stuff. So I’d always come out and help with the crews or help do whatever it is and have a remember one time I was helping, my uncle was working with my dad at the time and um, and so it was a Saturday morning and he was like, yeah, we don’t have anything scheduled. It’s kind of a cold wintery December, Saturday morning. And he said, hey, you want. He came in early and whatever job they had got canceled because they just felt like it was too cold.

So He. So he asked me, he said, nate, do you want to go get something? Eat? And so I was like, yeah, I’ll go out and get to go out with my uncle or in the morning and go get some breakfast somewhere. And so we were at Mcdonald’s just having one of those little breakfast tray that Mcdonald’s has. And um, and then we get the call and we have moved forward far enough now that we got up into the pager system, uh, that we are complete carpet, carpet cleaned, tolson surrounding communities since 1998. And uh, this was the era of the pagers where you had the alphanumeric pages and you also had those voice pagers. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa, the voice pagers were, were my favorite because one, they were, they were the biggest stressful, dreading things ever because you would hear a beep, beep, beep and it give you like three times.

It’ll go beep, beep, beep, and then it would beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. You got the message. And if you weren’t there and you weren’t listening, he hadn’t got it out of your pocket or had it on your hip. It was going to play the message one time to you and then it would replay it a second time. But after it replayed, it didn’t save the message. It was just a one time, like a beeper to beeper broadcast. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa so you had to listen to that message and you had to make sure you’ve got a pen and paper somewhere right around because they can listen to it and take down whatever message that, that, that message was sending. You had a right to make sure you wrote it down right then because otherwise boom, it was gone in the ether and whoever it is, what they told you, or if they mumbled or didn’t speak it very clear that will then you’re just done.

You’re going to have to find a payphone or find some way to contact back to whoever that person was to find out what it is that they were trying to communicate to you. Then. So while we’re there, we’re sitting at the, uh, thing at a really as a prank is young kids. We used to use those pages all the time. Gets there’s no filter. There’s no way to block out what somebody is saying. So you could be in the and if you weren’t smart enough to make sure you can see exactly, turn your pager off because if you had it off completely, then they’d send you a message. If the message didn’t get sent to you, a Motorola was the one who covered all of the Tulsa area at the time. And Carpet Cleaning Tulsa, if you didn’t get the message when it was sent to you, then you were just done.

So if you were at church and you started hearing felt vibrating buzz buzz, but you better run. You got to sprint out of the service to make sure you got out to one of the doors so you could turn it on, play the message before the message was gone. Because if you didn’t hear the message, it was just gone. There was, you know, that could be a, an important client calling you to tell you that they’ve got a water damage and they’re needing your services. So it created this very long stressful dynamic of trying to always make sure you were there and available to try to answer that phone. Next phone call, a carpet cleaning Tulsa. Since 1998. We’ve had so much experience and so much that led up to us starting a complete carpet in 1998. We’re covering some of those topics and think that we went through and it’s a Saturday morning, I’m out with my uncle and we’re sitting there.

One of the things we do just as a practical joke to each other, would that we’d send garbage messes or joke messages, things that, you know, just say maybe their name really loudly some way to try to embarrass them in whatever setting that they’re sitting at. And so, um, we were always loved to just really as young boys do, just kind of give, give them a hard time. But this particular morning I met with my uncle were eating pancakes, we’re having a really good time and you will get a, get a page and it says a water damage, call emergency, whatever the code was green because they have these codes for what, how important it was. And they made up this coding system so you’d know how important it was to call back because at the time he had no cell phone. So if you want to call back, you had to go find a payphone.

And so my dad created this entire structure system to saying like, if it was just a, a blue emergency, then our blue call that meant, you know, at your convenience, you know, if you call back in 10 minutes or if you call back in three hours, we just need you to check back in at some point. And then if it was a yellow call that meant, you know, boy, you needed to, Carpet Cleaning Tulsa, you know, sometime when you see the next, uh, next opportunity with a phone somewhere around, you know, your first opportunity to give us a call. And then if it was, you know, a red or a purple color. And then you need to do, um, stopped, whatever it was you’re doing currently, leave that job site. Go find a payphone right now and call immediately like we needed to hear from you in the next five minutes.

You had five to 10 minutes to find a phone and make sure that that happened. And a lot of that normally because you have one person out on a job site, another person out of the job site. And if you run into problems, you have to go over to a payphone, stand at the payphone, call the person, wait for the person to call you back at that particular payphone. They needed to know that you’re standing at a payphone waiting for them to call you back and that you better hustle your hustle up and find a way to get in contact with them because this was super important because you had your. Everybody’s all work is stopped right now when people are standing next to a payphone waiting for that call back.
