Um, and we finished off in the last episode talking about just a love for computers, connecting him with computers and all of the early stuff. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa so my goal, my thrust through high school was I was doing the basketball. I’m a training it really stain on it and wanted to always be the love of being point guard. And so I try to start every game that possibly could.
And so I just was at every, every particular thing. One year we had some really fantastic coaches and coach cletus green. We had coach Ken, tricky junior or just these really high level college coaches that are retired and they came back and they were, they coached some highschool balls and we got the chance to be in front of some fantastic concepts and talents. I remember one year we actually played 75 games that year because he just had so many connections. He just got us into every single tournament and every single place and it was just, it was so fantastic to connect with those guys that are really be able to move and go, Carpet Cleaning Tulsa go a long way in that route. And during that time I was formulating what I would do next, what would I do after basketball. And uh, my decision then was that I wanted to go ahead into the next level and I wanted to, to start my own computer business and I would build computers for people.
And so I, I went through, figured out exactly what I would need to build my first computer and went out and decided I wanted to get my own job and do this all my own. I want to do it in, apart from my, from my dad, I didn’t want to have a, uh, I feel like I had to bother him or not get things that I could do accomplish all by myself. And so it was never really anything invasive. It was just mostly just to get permission or let them know that we will be in that area and that will be leaving some estimates and let them know what it would take to make their yards look fantastic in and after just picking up the phone and calling to pick up the phone and calling and never had really. Anyone mean or rude is just a, just purely asking for permission to leave them some information on their door and get through an man after eight hours of just particular picture, you telling the exact same thing to the exact same people over and over and over. I realized that I did not want to keep doing this, but I didn’t need to make the money that I needed to get, Carpet Cleaning Tulsa be able to make that first computer. I could do $400 to build that first computer that I was going to put together for somebody.
Um, well the computer that I planned to sell to someone I could, if I could get the money. And um, and so I decided you don’t want. What I need to do is find out what here I can do and help out to where I don’t have to make these phone calls. And so I looked around and realized that everybody was calling different areas. And so a lot of times we’d have overlap and did different calls that we’re doing. And so I went to the manager, I said, hey look, if somebody would correlate these, these lists that we’re having, because they’re all by zip code anyway, why not have everybody call the same zip codes? You don’t have any overlap. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa then they could all move to the next zip codes. All of the answers in the yeses that we get can all be from the same general area.
Send everybody out for a couple of days to this area. We’ll all call another area and then we can circle back around to it in two to three weeks from now. Strike off the list of the ones we’ve already called her, got yeses from and then go back through those lists again and call and try calling again. And so I went. He said, well we could, but we went on anyone to do that. And I said, well, I mean I can do that. I mean just, I’ll just spend the day and I can just organize these all out so that everyone that comes in, I can just have a list and they all just grabbed from this list. And so I moved over and I did such a good job at it there that Carpet Cleaning Tulsa, he said, well, I mean, you know, I’m just doing this for the summer because it was a big push they were doing as their advertising campaign.
So he said, you know, if you don’t mind going through and printing the list, you’re going gonna correlate and put them out anyway. So then I can focus on are the sales side and we can go, I can go over on the management side, I don’t have to worry about all of this. I’m cold calling stuff. Then he’ll go out there and help the salesmen actually connected. So I actually moved up into his position and was able to set all of the calls and did all this stuff. And I kept working there until I hit my $400 goal of what I needed to build what I can to be a really great computer. And so by the time I hit that goal, I then turned in my resignation and finished out. I think after a month and a half of work in or two months of working there, I thought, you know what, that’s it.
I’m done with this corporate slog of actually doing the same thing over and over and over again. I want to build the computers, which I didn’t mind. I could, I could do computers all day long. I, you just sit there and play with the computer doing the exact same thing every single day because it just, it interested me. I was always something new and different and I could manipulate and change. The only reason I liked that particular job was that I moved out of the phones and got over onto the computer side of manipulating their sheets and the things that they needed to print out everything so they could keep their, um, their flow of, of cold call. This is two years before, I believe this was in [inaudible] 96 or so, and I had gotten enough money to build my first computer.
So I first day, I’m so excited I’ve got four or $500 and I go out there and I use, at the time I believe I knew used to new egg computers. No, I went to a local place. Actually. I went to a local place, ordered a couple of different um, parts that I needed. It got a motherboard. I got the specific type of Ram that I was looking for in the case that I was looking for in the power supply. I got the got the processor that I was looking for an accustomed fans that it could. I can overclock it a little bit if I wanted to run faster. I got a mouse and a keyboard to be able to connect to it. And then I got a monitor. That way I could put all these different things. I had to have a really good graphics card at the time it was a Voodoo Three d graphics card and it will allow you to do all the different things. Is believed. This was close to the year around the time where a tomb raider or to murder two came out, and so you actually had this new increase to be able to use a video graphics card to actually create just a processor just to create custom graphics, not just your built in, you know, normal graphics where they were just sides side scrolling. Now you actually have three dimensional graphics that could be really improved by having a side graphic cards. That’s, Carpet Cleaning Tulsa I knew that was the thing. It’s going to build a computer that just had that. Um, we will continue in the next episode. It’s to say, where did that go? Was that a super success or did that turn in to a super dog?
What was it that I was missing? I mean, there’s, I know there’s something big here and probably most of you listening to this so far are reading this already know the, the thing that I had missed in my whole breakdown to this application, but I felt like I was a rockstar. I felt like I had really. I had nailed down exactly what it can do. I had really built one of the best computers you could, you could think of. This thing was just going to be a rocking gaming computer was really going to do well and so we will cover what it is.
