We’re going to continue to talk about carpet repairing. Um, in our last episode we talked about what it would take to repair a patch from a pet that has tried to dig underneath the door. I’m trying to get out of the room and just touring the carpet up.
[00:47] We talked about the reasoning why you’d need to use existing carpet. This existing carpet can come from many different sources. Um, one of the main sources that we use most often is a closet because a lot of times you can have a small hole burn a tear or something like that that you don’t mind putting towards the back of the closet, say the back of a coat closet or a small, um, a utility closet, linen closet, something that you can get underneath in with the back corner. And from first sight you wouldn’t even see that there’s a problem in there. Also, this is a good source of carpet because it’s an area that doesn’t matter as much. You can put a box over it, but something over there to cover up the damaged area. Um, and what we will do for the exact repairing process.
[01:29] What we’re going to deal with patching in this particular episode is that we’re going to go in there and cut out the damaged area. We’re going to make it an exact little template. And one of the important things of doing a patch that I’m not normally the main thing that goes wrong with most patches for, for someone there that is trying to do it themselves or someone who is not that skilled in it is that you need to be able to cut out the damaged carpet and make a nice clean straight cut out of the existing carpet without cutting the fibers and half. The reason that this is very important is that the fibers on each side needs to be the same length and they also need to be able to be mixed together to look naturally. Like they are just laying as one piece of carpet instead of two pieces of carpet that had been seen together. carpet cleaning Tulsa
[02:11] And if you take either side of that equation, if you take either side of the patch, the inside of the Pantry, the outside of the patch, if either of those fibers get cut in half, you end up having a sculpted look. Um, if you ever looked at a, I entered Matt or somewhere like that or, or a decorative. I’m a big decorative rug that has different shapes. And patterns in it, maybe it’s a big flower or might have a logo of a company to get down and get close to it. You’ll notice that the center is fluffy and then it goes to the edges of each. Say Letter. Let’s say the letter c in the middle of a rug. Then all around the outside, the outline of the literacy and the rug is going to have. The edges are going to be sculpted. Look, it’d be kind of cut at an angle to kind of put a v pattern so you can make a little better delineation between the two pieces of carpet and it kind of helps to let it to stand out.
[02:58] But the way they do this is by cutting the fibers and half so they’ll cut it at an angle and they’ll kind of cut down across so that each of the fibers that come up progressively get shorter and shorter and shorter until it reaches the middle of the scene. So that there’s a real nice clear line between the two. Carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998 has given us plenty of times where we’ve had to get in there and fix someone else’s patch that have done it incorrectly. Um, and the reason this will help to stand up because you now create a shadow between the two sides. Even if you have two fibers that have not been shorn, let’s say that you’ve got full length fibers of both sides, just the way it should, should look like a normal thing, but you put the two together and they do not just, they do not touch each other perfectly so you don’t have to good straight, clean lines on each side of the carpets.
[03:41] Then if one carpet is overlapping the other carpet in any way, that will cause for one side to the be higher than the other. And this can create the exact same effect as, as either side being lower than the other because now one fiber sits a little higher and so any light in source in the room is going to create a small little shadow going down the length of that scene. And that little shadow is going to make that, that seem or any edges stand out. And so one of the things that’s real important whenever you put into Patras seem together and putting it into there is that you make sure that the two backings or at the same level and that they’re as close as they can be to touching without overlapping. And this will create an almost perfect invisible scene. There are scenes all throughout your house.
[04:22] I just to be able to put the carpet together in the first place requires a, somebody put a seam in and we use that exact same process to put a new patch into the carpet where we take out bad carpet from an area, a carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. We’ve had many times where we’ve had to get creative and find other ways to do it. I’m one of the simple ways that um, a lot of customers have to be able to find replacement carpet for red patches that they have some of the existing carpet from when it was installed. A, this is an important thing I think because anytime you have your carpet installed or you’re getting a garbage, we buy a new house, go through and look around because a lot of times people will take the extra carpet. New Carpet had been installed. There’s always excess carpet.
[05:01] A room that’s not as big as the carpet is. Carpet comes in 12 foot wide, so you’re always going to have access from somewhere and so you go around and find those excess pieces to where you can get in and get that. I’m a save those extra pieces for a rainy day at a time where a dog gets trapped in a closet or an iron falls down and burdens carpet or you have a kid that makes a spill or some type of a problem with the carpet, runs into the kitchen, grabs the wrong chemical, comes back out and start trying to clean the carpet in a way that it was not meant to be cleaned with a product that was not meant for carpet. And so this causes a big problem across the carpet because now it’s pulling color out or it’s adding color to it or it’s damaging the carpet in some way and you need to come in there with some other type of piece of carpet to cut that area out.
