We’re continuing this series on how we started complete carpet and some of the reasons behind it. Um, I get asked often not when we started complete carpet, but why?
[00:50] And so we’re trying to go over some of the, um, the, just the basic principles and ideas that had, that were formed in the, uh, the original start of complete carpet. But also what we’ve learned in running and operating completely carpet over the last 20 years, and I’m going over some of the words of wisdom and things we have found. And, and, uh, one example, um, there was a company that, um, uh, that was started around the same time that we did and the guy wanted it, found a way to make some big money quickly. Um, now he would always talk to us about there’s lots of extra money in water damage work and that we could really, you know, I should do the same thing that he is doing to be able to get connected with, um, real insurance adjusters and that he would just, you know, for every investor that brought him a certain amount of business that he would, you know, give them a bonus, give them a tip in, in, in response. carpet cleaning Tulsa
[01:38] And so it just, something felt off about it. It just didn’t seem right. And so I decided, you know, what, I’m just going to go, you know, this normal route. And he just, you know, he was able to make a tremendous amount of money the first five years of his business, but eventually somebody found out that he was giving tips or kickbacks as they are called now, uh, to the insurance adjusters, which is considered insurance fraud. And so unfortunately they were, they had to spend a good chunk of time in prison because this is just, that was just not a move that you can do in the business world. And so many times we think, you know what, we’re going to go ahead and get ahead. And he did. And for five years he really, he did well the a lot better than I ever did.
[02:15] And he was able to, you know, afford really nice home, a nice things. But the problem is all that disappeared when he had to go and spend another five to 10 years in prison because of the result of the actions. And so one of the things, the things that I think is very important is that you have to be able to make sure that you slowly build something up and make sure that what you’re doing is equitable and proper with everybody that you are dealing with. carpet cleaning Tulsa There’s some of the happiest people, some of the greatest mentors or the businessmen that I’ve really looked up to, are they good old boys, the guys who have always gone above and beyond what it is that anyone asked them to do. They always took care of their customers. They always took care of everyone around them. And in return, everyone always took care of them.
[02:54] You know, they never had a need for anything major. They never had to try get a huge amount of money off of one job because they had overextended themselves. They always had everything in appropriate amounts as they went throughout their life and their, you know, house cars, everything was taken care of because they were taking care of everyone else. And I think it’s important that you, um, that you start a business thinking, you know, what, I need to make sure that I earn anything that I get. Um, I think to even to this day, 20 years later, I still go to every single job. Like it’s my first. I go to every single customer, like they’re the, like they’re going to be the first person to fire me, the first person to look me in the eye and just say, your work is terrible.
[03:39] And I have to try to win them over every single time. You know, my passion inside is that each time I want, I don’t want to just do a good job. I don’t want you to be really wild. I, that’s not my focus. My core, my core is that I want you to call me back. I want you to use my services again. If I don’t do good work, you won’t want to call me back. If I can really, wow you, I know that you will always call me back. I’ll become your guy. I want to be your guy. And I think that’s been my driving force in starting complete carpet. And what, um, what it was I tried to do on every job was that I wanted someone, I want to do something so good that you’d, you’d want me to come back again.
[04:11] I wanted to have that repeat business. I wanted to be able to come back and service you on a longterm. I want to be able to build those relationships. Carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. We’ve serviced thousands and thousands and thousands of customers over the years to build, to help them to maintain the health and wellbeing and look of their carpet. And we would love to do that for you too. One of the big emphasis that I had when I started complete carpets that I saw a need to be able to do carpet cleaning and repairing at the same time. And that I was able to fill that need because of all of the experience I’d had growing up in the carpet industry and getting to help my dad and, and guys who worked for my dad doing different processes and I want to be able to expand out without taking any business away from my, uh, my father’s business so that I could start out and do my own business.
[04:54] And so I found that a lot of these different things were things that he just didn’t service in this particular realm of this in this industry. And so I found, um, went around and found all the things that everyone else didn’t want to do and I just kind of collected and did all those things for them. I’ve worked behind almost every major big carpet cleaning company here in the Tulsa area doing all of the work that they didn’t have guys trained to do or training their guys on work. That way they could expand in their own way to be able to get more stuff done. Because I think the more you help people achieve their dreams, the faster your own dreams will be achieved.
