Um, I’d love for you to check out and see some of the stuff that we have done in the past and what we can, some of the different service that we can do for you. And one of those services that we do is carpet patching.

[00:52] We’re able to take your carpets and to be able to, um, take a damaged area and then put in a new fresh area. And we’ve talked in previous podcast about what those different types of areas are and where we can get the carpet from, whether that’d be existing carpet from the carpet as it was installed, fresh or we can pull from our, most often we pull from a closet and so we will take the damaged area, put it in the corner of a closet and take the corner of the closet. That’s good. And put that in the area that the damaged carpet was in. Now, part of this process that, uh, we ended up running into is that people are curious, they want to watch and we love for people to come and check it out and watch as we do it. Um, what are some of the general practices for doing it?

[01:29] Carpet Patch. And so we wanted to go over and do a little episode here over what it is that you need to do to be able to get a good clean carpet patch and what you can do to be able to get that to disappear. I’m one of the first things that you need to do and doing a carpet patching, carpet cleaning Tulsa is in our fiber, but also repairing and patching the carpet is an important part of that too, is that you need to make sure that you have a really sharp, fresh blade. See so many seams that are just butchered or mauled because someone does not use the right tool to be able to cut it. Having really sharp, fresh, a carpet knife will make a huge difference because then that area can be quickly cut through, but you’ve got a nice clean, fresh cut sitting into that carpet.

[02:10] Um, if at all possible you should be able to pull that carpet back to the damaged area and from the backing, cut out a nice fresh straight cut. Now the type of cut that you make, it really doesn’t matter. You could do squirly, squiggly, wavy lines, anything you want to, but the problem is that whatever cut you make, whether it be a circle or a square or a diamond or triangle or rectangle or five pointed star, it needs to be something that you can replicate. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa And so we do all of our patches and squares. That way we can have a straight edge, we can use a straight edge to cut one straight, fresh line, and that way we can match that into another piece from the closet and have the exact same cookie cutter cut out. The more customer it becomes, the more wavy it becomes, the more difficult it is to match that exactly because you’re going to have to need to get another piece of carpet to fill in that exact spot that it matches exactly the width and length as the other spot was.

[03:03] And so if you can always try to cut from the back of the carpet. The reason for this, the the big reason for cutting through the backing carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. The reason that we found for cutting from the backend instead of the top, is that from the backing, you can cut just the back end of the carpet without cutting through the fibers of the carpet. If you leave all the fibers full length, your patches will always look much better than they do. If you cut from the top and have to cut through the fibers, now they do make a rope cutter to where you can separate the fibers and make a cut from the top. So, um, that doesn’t mean that we can’t do it from that way, uh, but we always try to, um, a PR. We always give a preference to try to cut from the back of the carpet where you, you can avoid touching into the fibers if possible, once you have made a perfect template and cut out of the carpet. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa

[03:46] One thing that’s important that so many people miss in doing the patches that you don’t want to just cut out the damaged area if you just cut out the damaged area itself. So many times the physical damage on the top is not all of the damage to the carpet there is damaged that extends beyond that across the, um, the other sides of the carpet. So you need to check out the backing because sometimes in a case like a dog where it’s ripped back the carpet, the carpet and the backing of separated in, sometimes you have to cut out a much bigger spot than what you can see on the top because the backing of the carpet has separated from the carpet itself and you can’t seem or patch in a good patch without going to somewhere where the backing and the carpet are still intact.

[04:26] The second part of making out, make sure you’ve got the right size cut using a fresh blade every every time, is that you use the right materials. You need to use seam tape that is specifically designed for patching carpet together. And we use, we always use hot melt seam tape that as a nylon fiber woven through it. So you’re gluing on a back in reinforced seam tape into the carpet and then pressing that down in the glue. You want to make sure you get the glue completely hot and good, malleable, subtle soak into that carpet and really, um, latch in and hold that patch in place. The next part you want to make sure you do is that you’re making an exact copy of that, of that piece into a closet. You take that piece over, you dry, fit it before you do any glue and you want to make sure that that bit of that piece matches exactly and that you were able to make it blend right into the piece of the carpets, so before you do any connection and gluing and make sure that it looks right.

[05:17] If it doesn’t look right, you know what? You take that piece, put it back in the closet and cut a new piece and you keep doing that til you have the right piece. That just fits in exactly the way that you’d like it to be. A you then take hot melt glue gun, go to include this in place, and then you need a tractor at any. Press it down into that glue [inaudible] glue seeps into the back and holds that piece in place so it cannot be back in, back out. And one of the last thing that really important to so many people miss. I see so many even well good installers have done this for a long time. They missed putting something heavy over that while it cools because if you have any, however, that glue cooled when it dries out the way it’s going to be for the rest of the time so you have a patch that sticks out because someone didn’t make it flat as they was cooling.
