One, eight, four, nine, four, seven, zero, nine, three a. We get this question asked often. Some of this question is based on a more of a historic in nature. Maybe a little bit of a. it’s more of a miss now than it is a factual, but it is.

[00:46] Something has gone around. It wouldn’t quite call it a full fledged old wives tale, but it’s in that category. I’m originally carpet was not always made of a fully synthetic material. Some of the older carpets were made with natural fibers or they might have a jute backing or they’d have a wool fiber on the top of it. And so a lot of those carpets, I’m more susceptible to moisture, um, sometimes just not just a light amount of moisture on the top, which could yellow some of the older styles of carpets. But the old carpet cleaning processes were inefficient. They didn’t have as much suction, they use too much water. And so as a result, they end up with moisture that sat for too long on the carpet. And just like a, I’m on a, just say a raw cotton. A teacher that you get that has not been pre shrunk.

[01:32] So the first time you wash it, it kinda shrinks up a little bit. It kind of gets a little smaller in size. A lot of these older carpets, they get too wet after the first cleaning and they would tighten up the shrink up a little bit. And you might’ve seen some of these from 15 or 20 years ago when you’d walk into a house and both sides of the wall. Carpet cleaning Tulsa You could go to one side of the wall and the carpet off the wall and he could go to the other side of the wall and the carpet was off the wall there too. So both sides, it’s shrunk in a half an inch or a quarter inch and couldn’t, didn’t quite reach both sides. And so because of this, um, a lot of people became afraid of cleaning their carpets on a regular basis and rightly so because back then carpet was susceptible, being wet for too long.

[02:09] Now, if you had a good cleaning process where the carpet cleaning was balanced, we refer to a balanced carpet cleaning, meaning that you put down as much water as you were going to suck up carpet cleaning Tulsa is that our fiber. And we always make sure that we have a balanced carpet cleaning setup every time we go out to, to take care of someone’s house. That way we’d never put down more water than what our suction is able to suck back up out of the carpet. Um, this is a big problem I think with a lot of inexperienced technicians or people who just don’t take the time to understand what it is that their machine can do. And so they will get in there and they will start cleaning and they’ll think, you know, what, if I just added more pressure, more water pressure to this particular situation that I’d be able to clean faster, and that is true, you’d be able to break down the spots faster, but you’re not getting it back out.

[02:53] Uh, you could go from, let’s just say a machine is rated at 400 psi for this particular one to be able to suck the water back up on this four or five, get one, um, and then you turn that pressure up to 600. So you’re effectively increasing by 50 or 60 percent the amount of water that is getting put down in the carpet, but you haven’t increased the amount of suction you’re, you’re sucking it backed up with. So let’s say you go up to 800 pounds of pressure. Carpet cleaning Tulsa Well, now you’re putting so much pressure that the water going gonna penetrate straight into the carpet and potentially down into the back of the pad before the suction is able to ever catch up. And so a good way to test this is to take your, uh, a wand, or if you got little small carpet cleaning unit at home to put it down on the tile floor and pull the trigger and it should be able to suck in all of the water that is put out.

[03:37] If any of the water starts to pool up, then you’re putting down too much water for the amount of suction that you’re using. Now, the two things that you can do to try to offset this, the two things that you can do that would help for the situation. There’s two key factors to balancing any wand is that you can decrease the water pressure until it matches your amount of suction. Sometimes this is not doable. You say you’ve got a little home unit that is Carpet cleaning Tulsa, is that our fiber? And we try to help every customer buying the best usage of the tools that they have, and sometimes the customer will have a smaller unit that they do not. They are not able to adjust the amount of water that’s put down, but the water that’s being put down is not as much as the suctions becoming up.

[04:18] So that you can do to compensate for this is that you only apply water on the downstroke. This means you only pull the trigger as you’re coming down to suck up the water. So then as you go up, you let go of the trigger so that you’re not putting out water when you’re not sucking. Carpet cleaning Tulsa Also, this is called doing an extraction stroke so you can come down once with water, go up once it’s dry, come down again with dry so that you have one full stroke of just drawing the carpet and sucking up the extra water to try to make up for the amount of water you put down that you make sure that you suck it back up. Because if you’re putting down too much water that you’re not sucking out, the spots may be disappearing, but it’s only because you’re diluting them and you’re spreading them into big light spots.

[04:57] Kind of similar to like a kid who’s got a bunch of spaghetti on his plate, all of our pile, and so he chops it up into little small pieces and spreads it until it’s like a flat pancake, like thing all the way across this whole plate and it looks like you eat. Most of it is all diced up, but really it’s the same pile. He just smashed it flat. I’m trying to hide the fact that he didn’t want to eat any of it and so a lot of times that we’re cutting in carpets. People have too much water pressure and not enough suction end up spreading out this the dirt in place. So this is fed into the fears and also rightly the part of the fears that people have about spots that come back or I’m cleaning. When someone comes in and cleans, it doesn’t look like God any cleaner than it was before, or it just stays wet for too long. It smells musty. All these problems are almost always attributed to poor suction or too much water. Carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. We are complete carpet.
