Carpet Cleaning Tulsa | Episode 332

Speaker 1: (00:01)
This is episode three, a 32. Uh, this is a complete carpet Carpet Cleaning Tulsa since 1998. Give us a call today at (918) 494-7093. This episode we’re going to be talking about, uh, things that you don’t want to use on the carpet. The common mistakes that we see as people are trying their best to try to get their carpets clean, but unfortunately using the wrong product for the wrong situation. Uh, there’s quite a few different situations that products can be used even if you’re using the right products for carpet. So we’ll be detailing some of those out today. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa since 1998 we’ve run across a lot of different situations. The most common, the easiest one, the top of the list would be, um, do not use bleach on your carpet. A lot of times you’ll have the assumption that you can take out color out of carpet and it will take the color out of carpet.

Speaker 1: (00:52)
Leach can do that. The problem is is that all of the color in the carpet is going to be taken out by the bleach. So if you put bleach on there for too long, it’ll make the whole area turn white. Uh, typically, uh, the thing that we see the most often is that people don’t, um, they tried to get say a greasy or oily staying out with bleach and bleach will just set or kind of uh, uh, regulate the grease that’s already there. It won’t remove the color cause the grease is not colorful. It is a stain. It’s made the carpet look dark in that area. So you’ll remove all of the color out of the carpet, leaving the greasy stains still there. So it actually in comparison looks stronger, actually looks brighter than it did before because now it’s kind of a white area around this dark spot. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa

Speaker 1: (01:36)
Um, the other part is that bleach continues to bleach over time. So, even though you may have used a slight bit of bleach to and I place up, if you don’t neutralize the bleed, you will continue to bleach and bleach is very caustic. So it will slowly eat up the fiber over time. Worst case scenarios in a couple of times or someone used a real heavy bleach over a whole area and then came back later and all the fiber had just been completely turned to dust. There was just the backing of the carpet left. It was completely bald spot. And so we’ve gotta be careful not to use products that have bleach in it. So directly using bleach is a no no on carpet. Let’s say you’ve got a bright pink spot, um, in your carpet and you use some bleach to try to bleach out that bright pink spot.

Speaker 1: (02:19)
The bleach will bring the bright pink spot down in intensity of it will no longer be bright pink. It’ll become a dolor light pink. The problem is that it also brings an intensity down the carpet that’s around. So instead of being, let’s say a medium tan carpet, it’s now a light tan carpet. So the contrast between the medium Tan to the Light Tan and the contrast between the dark pink to light pink remains the same because they both lightened up the same amount except now you’ve got a bright pink spot surrounded by light tan carpet surrounded by dark tan carpet. So you create three rings now have different colored carpets. So it actually almost stands out worse than it did before. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa since 1988. Uh, what are the next thing that we run into is people that use products for cleaning carpet that are meant for cleaning kitchens.

Speaker 1: (03:09)
So this is where you are um, unintentionally using bleach to clean your carpets with uh, four oh nine is a good example. There’s quite a few other kitchen based cleaners that have a disinfectant that is based upon bleach. And so your use it to clean up scrubbing bubbles, something like that where you go to clean the spot in the carpet, not knowing there is a percentage of bleach in that particular product. And so the product as it fits in the carpet, we’ll continue to pull the color out of the carpet. Even though you’ve cleaned out the spot and you come back a day or week or month later and all of a sudden the whole areas I’m white and you’re not quite sure why, cause you don’t remember cleaning that spot from a week or two ago. Um, so you always make sure you look to make sure that the product you’re going to use is specifically made for cleaning carpet.

Speaker 1: (03:55)
Um, the next part that we run into is people using products for carpet using a cover product but getting frustrated because it’s not doing what they are hoping it would do. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa. Um, we’ve run into as many times that we’ve seen someone use, let’s say the three main four are the four main categories of products you can use for carpet is one for odor removal. There’s a some type of a mal odor or something that smells bad and there’s a whole bunch of different products that we can use in there and they’ll modify the odor, remove the odor, um, cover the odor master Yoda, but they will, particularly main function is trying to remove their enzymes, a disinfectant, something along those lines. A deodorant to get the smell out of an area and they’ll use something that’s supposed to get the smell out to try to remove, say, you know, spaghetti or a some type of sauce.

Speaker 1: (04:48)
I make sure that you’re using something that is designed to remove smell for the proper type of smell it’s supposed to remove. The next time you get are the stain removers. These are specifically going to remove any smell. They’re not going to remove any of the, um, a contaminant that’s in there or break stuff down. It’s specifically meant to try to remove the leftover stain after the, the spot is been cleaned. A good example is say coffee and tea remover or a, um, a product for moving a wine or um, you know, uh, let’s see. Pet stains, pet stains. Another one they’ll have, they do what you’re trying to remove those leftover stains in the carpet. Not something on the carpet, but something that has discolored the carpet. And sometimes they’ll try to be removing this coloration. Ah, this would work on say a makeup stain or on a, um, a catch up the sitting on the carpet.

Speaker 1: (05:39)
Or if you’ve got a bad smelling area, it’s not going to change the effect, the smell of the carpet. And then you have your um, parts that are designed to get rid of or breakdown greases, uh, your active solvents. Degreaser something along those lines. The soapy solution to try to break up spaghetti sauce to try to break up some lipsticks or try to break up, um, some catch up the city and in the carpet. Uh, some dirt or grease or maybe a dog got sick and threw up. Um, and so you want to make sure you use the soapy greasy ones to break down the actual contaminant spots and all these products that you use. Always want to come back with a clear water rinse. Two, rinse the product itself back out so you don’t leave the product in the carpet attracting new dirt Carpet Cleaning Tulsa since 1998 we are complete carpets.
