This is episode three 43 carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998 we are complete carpet. Give us a call today at (918) 494-7093 a I wanted to talk to you. I was going back through and uh, listening on book audio book, a condensed format they could get from audible of of um, Stephen Covey’s seven principles of a highly effective person and also had the bonus eighth principal in there. Um, it’s the um, abridged version. So it’s about two, two and a half hours and he’s got a great voice so you can listen to it at two and three times without hardly even noticing the difference and get through it in an hour or so. But I went back and I probably listened to it three, four, five times since because it just, it’s simple stuff. Carpet cleaning Tulsa Things that we already know is common sense, but unfortunately aren’t doing them. We know them, we understand them, but we don’t do them.

And so one of the first principles that he has in there is be proactive. And this is a principle that I have lived my life on and I’ve really feel like everyone should, uh, I’ve always said that the longest way to do anything is the shortcut. If you, um, you know, you need to get it right and do it right the first time. Um, if you shortcut something or try to just a cobble it together to just get by, eventually it’s going to have to be fixed right later. And so the question then becomes, do you keep buying used tires with just a little tread left on them or you buy a brand new tires and remove the necessity to replace your tires two or three times over the span of one new tires, long life span. And so sometimes making those choices helps to extend the life, get all of the usage out of something or just not make so many small, this is an editorial choices Carpet cleaning Tulsa.

Do I go to the bank once a week or two? I’ll go to the bank every single day. Um, so I collect all of the things together that I want to do. Do I throw the trash out every time? I put trash in it or do I let the trash bin fill all the way up and then I tossed it out. And so sometimes we need to be proactive, overreact and plan out what it is that we’re going to do. I love the way that he said it was that if you don’t plan your life, someone else will. There is a plan for every day and you will have something happen in your life. You’re not in a vacuum. But if you don’t do something yourself than something else will be done for you. You’ll be following someone else’s plan. Um, even if you don’t make any plan at all, something’s happening.
Speaker 1: (02:24)
The world is happening. There’s chaos, there’s planning, there’s function, there’s form happening all around you. And sometimes you get sucked into that. And other times you just sit by and you’re a bystander, you’re viewing it. But either way, either you’re partaking or you’re being partake in. So, uh, one of the things that I’ve found is important carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998 is to look ahead and do preventative maintenance. And so one of the things that we always do is make sure that we can keep our filters clean, make sure that we keep our hoses clean, make sure that everything that we do are well stocked. We have the stuff that we need before we need it. Um, and we have a backup system in place in case something does happen because eventually something does happen in every situation Carpet cleaning Tulsa. But having those systems in place helps you to know how to, you’re going to behave before you get in there.
Speaker 1: (03:11)
Uh, it’s part of why the army and the Marines and Navy, uh, all of the different training branches, they typically will put the, um, uh, new recruits into situations that are more difficult than hopefully what they’ll face so that they are prepared so they can be calm under fire. Um, the bill Belicheck with the New England patriots. He has a time where he’s wanting to boys to practice and it’s really snowy and terrible weather outside and he’ll go practice outside, not inside because he wants them to practice in the most adverse conditions so that they’ll be used to something worse than the actual game. So the game will feel easy to them because they’ve already practiced. That’s something hard. But if the game happens to be very hard, if it does rain, if it does know, if something does happen during that time, then they’re already prepared because they were proactive and they prepared for that.
Speaker 1: (03:58)
How this ties into a podcast we talked about earlier about saying that you need to, what you do in private is practice for what you’re going to do in public. So it does matter what you do in private carpet cleaning Tulsa is in our fiber. One of the things I think that matters is to do practice, but practice until you can get it right and keep practicing as a lot of times we will try and do something until we get it done once and we have yet. We spent a lot of time just barely getting by, barely getting it barely, and then we’ll make it once and we’re like, okay, cool. Now I’m done. I’ve done it and I think what makes the difference between good and great is the person who doesn’t, isn’t satisfied with doing it once but goes until they can do it every time.
Speaker 1: (04:39)
That every time that you do it, every time somebody comes and a cost me or fronts me on something, I can respond with grace Carpet cleaning Tulsa. Every time somebody comes up to me and gives me a gift, I can be appropriately thankful. If somebody is upset and his morning or as a grief stricken over something, I could be a appropriately comforting, but I can’t be comforting. I can’t have grace and I can’t be respectful or make sure I always get the door for somebody if I haven’t been practicing that all the rest of my life because the opportunity comes and we miss it. So many times the opportunity knocks and we don’t open the door and it’s not because we’re trying to avoid the opportunity is because we don’t know. Wind opened the door. We’re not used to knowing that. That’s what happened. Um, I remember when my kids were little and someone came and rang the doorbell.
Speaker 1: (05:27)
It freaked him out because all of a sudden their house is making this uh, uh, dinging banging noise and they don’t know why Carpet cleaning Tulsa. It’s, you know, the difference between somebody trying to break into your house and somebody asking you to come open the door is just a matter of perception because you could have somebody banging on the front door trying to kick it in or banging on the front door because they want you to open the door because they’re trying to get your attention and you have to have practiced what your response would be. I had to practice with my kids. Uh, for example, I do not want to ever open the door if somebody rings the doorbell or knocks on the door. www.completecarpettulsa.com Um, because I need to be the person that goes up to the front door. I need to be the man who goes up there and says, okay, you know, I need to check to make sure that somebody is safe to come into my home. Whether that is somebody that I understand or trust or that they’ve got the right house, I’d put my child out there. I don’t know what will happen. I don’t, it’s not the right place for them. Once they get older, they’ll have their own doors for them to answer. But right now with my door for me to answer, to keep them safe and protected.
