I don’t want to talk to you today about integrity, about doing the thing that we said that we would do. Um, there’s one half of integrity that is um, making sure that you are worth trusting that you say something, then you will do it. And that part of the integrity is t is others based means do people trust you? It’s the trustworthy factor that we have of people in. We all know a friend that no matter what they say to us, we don’t believe them. It’s not quite the chicken little or the boy who cried wolf, but it’s kind of in that general vein of things where if so, and so Bobby says he’s going to get that thing knocked out of the park and he’s not going to get it knocked out of the park. He says he’s going to get it knocked out of the park every single time and it’s not going to happen.

Or if Johnny says he’s going to quit cigarettes, he’s not quitting cigarettes, he keeps saying that every single week and he has yet to ever stop the cigarettes. You know, he keeps buying the cigarettes and it keeps my lighters and so he keeps having a way to light up the cigarette and he’s buying the cigarettes to have in his pocket. And so we know that there are those people that would like to do one thing, but their actions do not support it. Uh, we also have those friends that, man, these are salt of the earth people. They said they will get something done and you can just take it to the bank. That’s, that’s going to be done perfectly. We’re going to get that done. And then they’re there at that time that there is, and they’ve gotten it prep, they’re ready for you. They are planned in advance so they know exactly what they want, when they want it and how they want it done. And having that type of trustworthy factor to be able to where your word is, your bond, where you say, hey, this is what, this is what I’m going to do. And people around you said, well then by God that’s gotta be done because he, if so and so said that this was going to do, it’s going to be done. And I think that part of it we need to have so that other people can trust us so that other people can plan their life properly so that other people can have a uh, uh, assurance and confidence that the thing that they’re looking to get done, I think they’re going to need to get accomplished, is going to actually happen and we try to be that in our company so that we can make sure that we’ve taken something off your plate, something you don’t have to worry about, one less thing to stress or worry about because we’re going to make sure that you are taken care of and that you are well provided for this in this scenario.

Now there’s a second half to having been a person of integrity to where you stay true to your own core values and ideas and that people can trust you. You know, that this certain person always does this. And even if I don’t like it or it’s not the most, um, high territory qualities thing, at least he’s consistent all the time. And people love consistency. People love something that they can rely on that they can consistently rely on. You know, it doesn’t, you know, sometimes that’s a good thing and sometimes it’s just a, uh, the ability to just know, well, if this thing fails and it’s like me playing golf, you can pretty much rely on if I want to try to take a good hard swing at a ball, it, I’m going to slice it. And so knowing that I’m going to slice it, um, most of the time I will literally just go up there and say, okay, well it’s, I know I’m going to slice it. I will aim, uh, farther to the left that way when I hit it and it goes up and they kind of slices and go through the loops off to the right and then a, we ended up in the middle because I am far enough left to compensate for the fact that I knew I slice on a very regular basis.

And I think that we need that in our life where we have that consistency. But part of the other half of this coin of integrity is what do you need as an individual? What do you need for yourself as a person? There’s something that tears your own being apart. There’s something that breaks down your own internal fabric when you can’t trust yourself because you’re the one that made the commitment and said you would do something and at the end of the day you feel bad because you didn’t honor that commitment. And there’s some, there’s an internal conflict that arises that will spill over and all the different areas of your life when your own body in your own mind doesn’t trust that you will complete or do something. And we make up excuses and we tried to justify it. We try to say that oil, it was the traffic is Lorraine.

It was the, whether it was, we always have something. We have a canned response of something to explain away why we didn’t do what we said we would do. It’s not like someone put an expectation on us and we didn’t live up to. Their expectation is that we put an expectation on ourselves and we didn’t follow through. And so I encourage you today to stop making. Don’t make any claim. Don’t make any expectation. Don’t tell anybody you will do anything unless you’re for sure you can do it and start off with the easy things. Sort of like in basketball. You want to learn to make a layup before he start shooting a three point or half court shots. So find the layups in your life, things that you can do consistently well, because that will build the confidence that next time, well, if I could do this, then I better do that. And you start building up this internal fortitude that says, well, I can’t. I’ve got the street going. I can’t stop now. And I love the old adage, just don’t stop that not quitting.
