We’ve talked about patching, a ways to put a patch together, the different ways to seam it or they use a microwave, an iron or a glue gun, and then also the choice of the carpet, the replacement patchy material. Make sure that it’s always of the same carpet. You don’t use carpet from another source. You use carbon from the carpet. It’s already been laid. Now when you use that carpet in the area, now you can use another source if you wanted to into the area that’s was done.

Say a dog tears the carpet back into doorway. That area is, the car was just destroyed. You could move it into the closet, but you’d have that destroyed a carpet in the closet. Now if you get a piece of carpet or report, police it with, you can then cut that out and move the carpet, take a good carpet into there and then replace it with some other levels. Carpet. Uh, but sometimes people just don’t have any other carpet. They don’t want to do anything to replace the carpet. So we will just take, say there’s a big Kool-Aid state and said we’ll cut the Koolaid stain out, move the Koolaid, stain into the closet, take the good piece of carpet from the closet, make an exact match, a template. And so it’s like two puzzle pieces. So I pull out the exact size of the passion that I need, but that in the B in the new place, so the red is gone and then pick the red, put that into the closet and that will then make Vanessa swap the two spots. So you still have a red spot and the carpet somewhere, it’s just in a closet where nobody cares. There’ll be a box or shoes sitting on top of it as opposed to out in the middle of your living room where everybody will see it. And this brings me to my next point, which is that when you do a patch, wherever you take the patchy material from, the patch will look different than the carpet around it. Now the ways to minimize the way that it looks different, there’s three parts to it. Part number one, make sure you’re using the same carpet. This is the easiest, simplest part, but so many people miss this part of the grabbed something they think look similar. They put it in there and your eye catches the difference in the color because they’re not similar enough. So part number two is that you need to make sure the carpet is going in the same direction, just like the hair on your head.

The carpet has a grain to it when it’s installed or when it’s put together, the carpet has a certain direction that it will lay one way. It kind of lays one way. It will fluff up. The reason this looks different because one side it, when it’s laying down, the light reflects off the back of the carpet. So if you’re standing and the carpet laying away from you, then it all looks smooth and shiny. If you’re sitting there looking at the carpet and it’s laying towards you, you’re looking into the ends of the fiber that it looks darker because you’re looking into the spaces between the fiber as opposed to the reflection off the back of the fiber. Um, so make sure that grain is going the same direction. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa could look like two different carpets as well, gone to a carpet or seen somebody vacuum a carpet and when they go up and when they come back down, they put that V under the carpet and it looks drastically different.

The up looks fluffy, the down looks smooth and it kind of creates this, um, like a bunch of little tents or tepees going across the carpet. A lot of little letter A’s as they go across the carpet. As they go up and down, you can see that you’ve vacuumed an area. That’s because the grain of the carpet is getting pushed one direction or the other. Uh, if you take the carpet and put it in and the grain is reversed, then the patch will always stand out. It will look dark while the rest of the carbon looks light or a little look light while the rest of the carpet looks dark. So you gotta make sure that, absolutely make sure that the grain of that carpet is in the right direction as you put it together. And then the final, the third point is the most important point. This is what the whole podcast is leading up to is make sure that the patch fits the patched area. Exactly. This is where a lot of skill comes in is learning how to cut a patch just right. You cut it too small and the fibers will fall down into the Valley between this carpet, the patch patch area and the existing areas. You have the existing area, they have the patch piece, the plug that goes in there. And those do need to be done exactly a couple of ways that you can do to make this fit together. Exactly. Is that, um, I, I like to make sure that you use a flex fresh blade every time that you make a cut in the carpet. That way the carpet is never torn or, or mold. It’s never ragged. It’s nice and crisp and sharp for both the place where you removed the carpet but also the place where you’re putting the carpet in.

That way when they’re put next to each other, they’ll fit in exactly how you could make it all squiggly different directions if you want to. As long as they both matched the exact same squiggly direction. I like to do straight cuts cause that’s a lot easier to match up. So you could do a straight edge and this side straight edge on that side, the two match together and then you’ve got work. It’ll work well, looks nice. Um, you also want to make sure that the fibers are not short. So if the fiber is on one, half of the patch are cut in half and the other half are straight, then it’s going to, you’re going to see this thing. It’s almost like you’ve shaved down. We’ve all seen a rug where it’s nice and thick across the top and it kind of curves down to the sides. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa is in our fiber.

They’ve shorn off the edges to kind of give it a sculpted look. Or the old sculpted carpet were like that. They have different length of fibers to give different patterns through the carpet. You don’t want to create your patch, have a sculpted look in a pattern around it. You want them to be the exact same height. So when they’re pushed next to each other, it all looks like one flush, flat surface. So doing those three things will help it out tremendously so that your patch will blend right in. So as long as the patches from the same carpet, it’s in the same direction, and then the edges are cut, clean and nice, it’s gotta be an exact match. It’s gotta be a puzzle piece that fits together like a glove. I’m like, uh, well, no, like a glove. It just make it like a puzzle. You know the symbol. So it’s gotta be a puzzle piece.
