Uh, give a quick recap. We’ve had how to make your patch, uh, hold in place different types of patching material and ways to patch whether you’ve got a seam iron and a microwave iron or maybe even a glue gun. Another thing that will help out tremendously is making sure that the patch matches. We gotta make sure we have the same carpet that we’re putting in there. Uh, we don’t wanna have mismatched carpet versus the thing. Your eye will pick that out quickly as a pro tip. If you take and put a large brightly colored rug on the middle of your carpet, sort of like a matrix with a woman in the red dress, you don’t notice that there’s an agent standing behind you with a gun because you noticed just the bright colored red dress walking through a sea of monotone graze. You’re, I just can’t help but follow the shiny, it’s with a magician’s assistant, was always there and supposed to do is do distract you from what you really should be paying attention to. So as soon as you think you know what you’re looking for, then they’ve got you because you’re looking at the wrong item. Now you’re looking at whatever they want you to look at because it’s shiny, it’s big, it’s a thing that’s distracting you so that you don’t notice what’s happening on behind the scenes. And you also can use that same, uh, same capacity and trying to uh, take the items in your carpet that are unsightly and um, not hide them exactly, but distract people from them. Like if you walked into a house and there is a bright flaming green neon green wall, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell me what any of the light switches in the house look like at all. Probably wouldn’t tell me what the condition of the doors were, what the cabinets are, what the countertops looked like. Nothing else would. You wouldn’t be able remember anything else besides the house except for the fact there was a giant wall and a big completely painted just lime green, neon green, nothing else. It’d be like, wow, that’s all my brain could remember. Even though you did take it and see everything else in the house, you just didn’t notice it because there was something else that created a bigger impression.

Sometimes you can do that with a rug or with some other piece of furniture in the room to detract from carpet. That’s, you know, just hitting its end of life. We also, we’ll talk in another podcast about what you can do to they amazing uses you can use for rugs and what their, you know, what their form and function should be in the different ways that you want to use them perfectly. We’ve sync the two things together very nicely. Uh, we get onto the last part here as long as it is properly patched in and done well. But this time I want to go onto what you could do because once you have a fresh patch in there, it is not going to match exactly. Even though I did the exact same carpet and it is in the right spot and you’ve cut it just perfectly and seem together just perfect. So it’s not coming apart. You can’t see the scene for the lines. So it’s not standing out. But your eyes going to pick up the fact that this piece of carpet came from a closet which has never seen sunlight. It’s never seen any light. It’s never been physically walked on. It’s never had any type of dirt put onto it. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa Like it’s, you know, it’s pristine carpet, almost brand new. Whereas the carpet that you’re patching, typically nine times out of 10 is in a walk path. And so right now the fibers in the walk path look a little bit flat and dull.

They’ve been walked on, they’d been broken in so to speak. Whereas the other fees has not been broken in yet. And there’s a three different ways that we can address this. And there’s three different ways that you can do to try to help this number one way. The first way we do is after patching an area, we almost always typically clean it because this carpet is clean. It has yet to have any physical wear and traffic. Where are the areas around it typically are dirty. That’s why you’re getting it patched anyways because it’s kind of damaged. So if you’ve cleaned the area around it, you bring the area more up to the strength of the uh, patch. So you wanted to bring it cleaner, you’re getting all of the areas around there. No, there’s only so far you can take it cause obviously carpet that is worn out or has some trouble is um, you can’t reverse the aging of the carpet completely. You can just average it back up. Some is that the difference is so drastic. I’ve actually had a customer go back in the backyard, grab some dirt, put it in the middle of the patch, kinda rub it around, scuffing it for a little while with a seat, just gotta mix it into the thing so he could make the patch look more dingy, just like the carpet around it. So sometimes you can go the opposite direction and clean the carpet around to make it as clean as the spot is. Or you can try to dirty up the carpet a little bit to bring the carpet down so that it looks as as a broken in as a carpet rounded.

Now option number three, which is what we always recommend our customer to do. Obviously we follow number one, clean it some, just make the two look as close as you can. Uh, I typically don’t do option number two. I don’t try to make the carpets look dirty or to match it up. I always like try to make it look cleaner. Um, but the third option is, um, just use it as normal because however the other part, look, this part will also look that way. Now that it’s exposed to sunlight, now that is exposed to traffic, it will blend itself in over time. Now that might be three to nine months because it’s if not an area that gets walked on too often or you know, the other carpet has normally multiple years worth of walk of wear on it. Um, and so it’ll take a little bit of time for the two to kind of catch up to each other average out. But as you walk across, the dirt will average out between, cause they both getting walked out with the same dirty feet. The wear pattern will start to ever average between cause carpet doesn’t typically wear indefinitely. It kind of breaks in and blooms so to speak at a certain point.
