Want to continue talking about, uh, carpets and making sure that you maintain the clean and health and wellbeing of your carpets and side because, um, carpet’s one of the most expensive things you could have in your house.

Speaker 1: (00:55)
Uh, it will be one of the things that needs to be replaced. Uh, hopefully on a longterm basis, but can’t be a quick basis just because we get in there and uh, abuse our carpet. A lot of times we’re abusing our carpet. We don’t know it. And we talked in our last episode about, um, rubbing your hands together. You can do it for a long time to create friction, but you covered it. Sand, you rub your hands together and you’ll rub the top layer of skin just straight off. It’s like sandpaper in your hands. You can do the same thing to your carpet. It’s like sandpaper in your carpet when you let dust, dirt and debris sit in your carpet, but without moving it, because each physical step you make on the carpet moves the fiber and those fibers rubbing against each other start to slowly cut each other to slowly start to unwind because carpet is a bunch of small little pieces of rope and those small pieces of rope are twisted to be able to create to the pile the fiber that you see in your carpet.

Speaker 1: (01:46)
But as they are walked out, as they’re used, they start to wide. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa And as they start to unwind, they’ll start to fray and then they mix it in a club together with the other fibers around them and you’ll get this matted look. Uh, once the carpet does match, it’s unfortunately, that’s just the way the fiber now looks. Some people, especially prosaic carpets, do this quickly though per se does a little different because for XAI carpet is a, for lack of better term, a permed or a currently carpet. Uh, it’s got this kind of a twisted look to it to give it this crinkled look. Once that twist, just like somebody who’s had a permanent, then then the permanent falls out or it wears off over time or you’ve curled your hair and your hair goes back straight, the carpet fibers will at some point go straight again and you’ll get this flat look.

Speaker 1: (02:38)
When it’s crinkled in curly, it will sit up and be look fluffy and puffy. Whereas when it gets flat, it will actually do the opposite of what you would think that it actually goes dull. It will look, um, instead of clumping together, it actually flattens out because the fiber no longer is, is curly. So it gives us really distinct difference in the walk paths because they’d been walked on, whereas everywhere else has not. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa since 1998 we tried to help people combat that. This, uh, early signs of wear and fatigue by making sure you have your carpets vacuumed on a regular basis and then cleaned if your vacuum cannot pull the dirt out. So there’s two phases to all carpet cleaning, carpet maintenance, carpet care, because, uh, it is a, um, one of the largest expenses in your home. Most people have spent either were 2,500 to $10,000 in, uh, putting carpet in their home.

Speaker 1: (03:30)
Uh, whether you go with a real low end at 2,500 to 3000, $4,000 to, for a small house doing cheap carpet, or you can go, I’ve had one customer we did just the other day who spent $35,000 re-carpeting their entire upstairs. It was a very big house and they went with very nice carpet because they wanted it to last a long time. But if you put that much money into the carpet, we need to make sure you spend as much appropriate amount of time to maintain it. But even though you have super cheap carpet, are you going to get three to five years out of your carpet or you’re going to get seven to 10 years out of carpet? You could double the life of your carpet by having regular, uh, vacuuming and cleaning. And the difference between those two things is that when you clean your carpet, you’re removing what is stuck to the carpet.

Speaker 1: (04:11)
Now, some people have us come out on a regular basis, just do they use this as a, a maintenance to take care of all this stuff that we recommend. We don’t want to be your only line of defense. We want you to also on a weekly basis, if not every couple of days, do a light vacuum. Now, most people don’t back it because it takes there. They’re in their mind imagining a wall-to-wall massive vacuuming. This is where you move all the furniture. This is where you get behind everything. This is where you, this is like the deep cleaning, the super dusting, the colon cleanse of the house where you go through and you do everything. So you just associate that colon cleanse time of the year that does spring cleaning time of the year. That’s the time they do their big vacuuming. But what you really need is a little small maintenance vacuuming.

Speaker 1: (04:58)
The small maintenance vacuum means you take 90 seconds to maybe two minutes. So you got 90 to 120 seconds of time and you’re just going to go with the vacuum out. Go hit the first five to 10 feet of access of dirt going into anywhere in your home. That would be a Ralph top my head. The first main points I would hit would be your front door. So it would be the first five feet of hitting the carpet from the front door, uh, from the, uh, back door as you’re coming in off the backyard, uh, from the garage when you’re coming in, out of your road dirt, if you parked your car in the garage and every time you parked it there, that dust and dirt that’s you’ve picked up from the car, from driving across the city for the day, we’ll all kind of settle down in deposit into the garage. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa is in our fiber.

Speaker 1: (05:40)
You get this layer of kind of road dirt that builds up in there, um, from the kitchen. Without other times we cook and clean and do stuff. Or if you have any pets anywhere that the pets like to be, so hit those three, maybe four areas, it’s only about five feet into that area and cause that first five feet into the carpet is picking up and grabbing all of the dirt off of your feet. And so that’s the first fluffy part. Now, after, if you don’t back that area on a regular basis, then that dirt will build up there. And then anyone that walks into your home, they can have absolutely clean shoes, but they step on the part of the carpet that’s now dirty. They’ll pick that up and travel a little farther. That’s why you see starting at the front door coming in.

Speaker 1: (06:18)
It’ll be more dirty and it gets cleaner as you go into the house cause the dirt is already wiped off as you go through the house. But it will continue to spread if you don’t back it back up. Now when you need us is because you go out there, you try to vacuum the carpets and you go run your vacuum over it, but it doesn’t come back off. Let’s say you spilled a little bit of orange juice or seven up or Apple juice and that stickiness from the sugars are now sticking dirt to the carpet.
