Speaker 1: (00:01)
Carpet. This is the carpet cleaning podcasts, Carpet Cleaning Tulsa Since 1998 we are complete carpet. We want to give you some more information. Continue from our last podcast about carpet, choosing the right carpet, the reason that you should have your carpet. Uh, one of the things that we think is important, uh, probably give you two big tips in this particular podcast, but the first one is make sure you choose something you like is what we ended our last podcast on. I think is something that really could deserve a whole half a podcast here or just just devoted to this one concept of when you do something, uh, do it right. Make sure it’s the way that you would enjoy it. And like, so that when you are getting other things done and accomplished, you don’t have this lingering feeling like, Oh, I made a mistake. So if you are trying to get your home ready to sell, then don’t dump a whole bunch of money in the carpet.

Speaker 1: (00:52)
Pick the thing that’s most neutral, this most simple so that the person who moves in looks at it and says, I can move in. Not that I need to replace the carpet. Now, sometimes that means you, all you do is clean the carpets or you just tidy them up and fix them up. Some people like either carpet, such a good shape, you just give them a good stiff back. To me, sometimes that means that this carpet smells or look so terrible that I need to replace certain areas to try to make sure that the customer, that they’re sorry, the potential person that wants to buy your home comes in and looks at it and says, I can move into this or this has been well maintained. And remember I’ve had customers go in and you will sell it quicker. The more fancy and nice it is, like you overvalue your home. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa since 1998.

Speaker 1: (01:32)
It will sell quickly because they’ll realize it’s a steal for the price that you’re getting. But at the same token, it’s also going to put a big hole in your pocket. If you put seven to $10,000 a brand new wood in a home and you’re not going to sell the house for seven to $10,000 more, you’re just going to sell it faster. Uh, and so sometimes that’s worth it. Most of the time it’s not. It’s save that money and put new wood in your homes. You could enjoy it. Uh, so, so many customers have fixed up their own personal homes just to later think, man, I, I fixed it up better than I lived in it myself just to sell it and now I’m going to go buy a home that’s not nearly as nice as the one I have just sold. I should’ve just stayed in my home.

Speaker 1: (02:14)
And it’s kind of like that show. I think it’s a fix or flip. And so they either try to flip and get a new home or they try to fix the one they’re at convinced him to stay. And either way, we need to be looking at things that are in the scope of what it is we’re trying to accomplish. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa is in our fiber. So the first thing do what you feel connects well with you. If you’re going to stay in your home and you’re wanting to try to improve it, make sure that you have removed the source of the reason for the carpet to be broken down in the first place. If you’ve got a dog was peeing everywhere. Um, I’ve had a few customers just wait out the life of their dog. They’re like 12 1314 years old. It’s got bladder problems and it just starts peeing a lot at the end of its old age.

Speaker 1: (02:53)
Not because it was a bad dog, just because that’s just what happens sometimes with older animals and so they said, well, I’m going to wait until this animal is passed on before I put new carpet in because I know the dog will pee on the new carpet and was this ruined my four five $10,000 investment. Also maintenance your carpet on a regular basis to maximize the life. Even if the carpet is worn out, you want to be able to at least enjoy being in there. We did a job recently for a customer who had just bought a new home. They’re gonna replace all the carpet. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa The carpet was an order, but it was back orders to be two months before it got there. And so they said, well, that has come in to clean the carpet when they’re going to tear it all out and replace it all in two months.

Speaker 1: (03:33)
And the question to me was, well, if you’re going to get new carpet and only two months, why cleaned the carpet right now? And they said, well, I’ve got to live in the house until I get the carpet replaced. They said, Oh, well of course that absolutely makes sense because you know, that’s why you wanted to replace the carpet. The carpet were so bad, but you can’t get the replace right away. So you’ve got to at least not feel like you’re just getting dirty every time you walk on your own carpet. Uh, the other half of Ronnie replace your carpet. The second thing to look at is to say, um, make sure I’m not overspending. You want to get good quality but you don’t want to pay through the nose for it. So one big pro tip I can give everybody that I think is just huge.

Speaker 1: (04:14)
It’s something that we’ve seen through 22 years of working with carpet and different services throughout, is that we always tell people, Hey, when you get carpet, make sure that you choose the pattern you like. Let’s say it’s a seven sixteenths, six pound or eight pound or maybe a half inch, six pound or eight pounds. I personally like a seven 16th eight pound. That’s my preference for Patty. But choose the most basic Patty you can cause padding is a bit like a two by four. If it’s seven 16th that’s how tall the Patty is, all seven 16th patches, all the same height. Carpet Cleaning Tulsa That’s all going to be this amount of hype on it. How dense, how much that Patty takes to crush it. That’s the weight. So if it’s an eight pound pad, it takes eight pounds per area to squish the pad flat. Uh, if you’ve got a six pound pad, it take six pounds of pressure to squish it down flat.

Speaker 1: (05:08)
So no matter what pad you get, no matter how much you spend on it, it will have to match those things. So think of it like would like a two by four no matter how fancy and how awesome how special that two by four is, it still is only two inches by four inches made of wood. So it could be sanded, it could be primed, it could be broken down like no matter what it is that happens with that padding a, it’s going to be the same, just like a two by four. It’s going to have the same characteristics and quality. Now could it be a little bit, you know, fancier pad and have like a a moisture barrier on it and be sprayed for hypoallergenic and have all these other things? Yes, it absolutely there, there are other options you can put on the pad and my professional opinion is that you should not get any those options at all.

Speaker 1: (05:56)
This padding is going to go underneath your carpet, sit on the concrete floor and be walked on a lot and have Dustin debris go through it. It is these two by four the stud in the wall of your house and you could get super fancies two by fours that have been painted. They have been stained, they’ve been sanded all the way down. They look elegant, they look awesome and then you put them in the wall and you nailed the sheet rock over top of it. So none of it matters at all. I personally don’t like the moisture barrier pads because they actually keep the water in the carpet, which is the most extensive part, not letting the water soak down into the pad, which is the super cheap part. I also don’t like moisture barrier pads cause if you do have a water damage it takes a lot longer for you to notice the water damage cause the moisture barrier will hold the water in the floor and in the padding and there’ll be no way to notice it until it starts to mold, mold and mildew away.
