One, eight, four, nine, four, seven, zero, nine three. I’m going to pick up on our last from our last episode talking about carpet restructuring or stretching a.
[00:48] This is where you take a carpet that it started to get loose and you put it back into the carpet in or back into the home to where it’s tight again. Uh, this is important because, uh, the looser the carpet is, the faster it breaks down, the tighter it is, the flatter it is, the less it moves, the longer it will last. And so last time we hinted about, um, the reasons, uh, why, what are some of the different things that could cause carpet to the stretch prematurely or to get wrinkles in it? I’m one of the simplest reasons that I see is that it’s poorly installed. There’s a lot of different reasons. I probably cover an entire episode just on a problems with installation, but in this particular one we’re going to talk about, um, people who just don’t know what they’re doing. If they have a huge room, they don’t use the power stretcher.
[01:38] The idea on installing carpet at its very basic form, carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. I’ve had lots of practice and lots of experience in all kinds of hundreds if not thousands of different homes that we’ve stretched it fixed, uh, throughout the years. Um, the, one of the things that’s very important is that a carpet stretching is more like a rubber band than it is about like a rug, a, you’ve taken each side of the carpet and you’re connected to the tax and next to the wall and you’re taking the stretcher and you pull the carpet about a half an inch to an inch beyond where it’s just laying flat. You want it to lay flat in this area and then connect one side and then pull against that side to get it to kind of rubber band effect it so that it will a tight against the other side.
[02:23] The reason for this purpose stretching Tulsa that our fiber or one of the reasons that we do this is that as the carpet does relax a little bit, especially when it’s new, it will slightly grow a little bit. Uh, it’s, this is akin to having a good pair of leather shoes. You get a really nice high, you get a really nice high end, good quality pair of leather shoes and it will, um, he will see that overtime as you walk in them and you move around to them, that they will start to relax, they will start to form to fit around your shoot around your foot. This is just, it all fabric has a little bit of a stretch ability to it. And so that stretchability that relaxing can and will happen on all carpets. The cheaper the carpet, the faster it will relax the stretch.
[03:12] Uh, the main reason for this is that really cheap carpet uses less fiber, less fibers mean there’s less glue for the fibers to be glued to because the bottom of each fiber needs to be glued into the backing. And so if you’ve got, let’s just say in a one square inch, you’ve got five fibers, then you’ll have five points of glue. If you’ve got 25 fibers, you’ll have 25 points it blue. So it’ll be a lot thicker glue and more backing rigidity. It will hold itself together a better I’m now. But then again, you get what you pay for, so if you’re getting cheaper, carpet is going to be a little bit cheaper construction and so it will not last as long or as the more expensive carpets are because there’s not as much fiber in it. There’s not as much blue used, so it’s, it will stretch and break down a little bit quicker. Carpet stretching Tulsa
[03:57] Kind of the difference maybe between a, he just had canvas shoes versus leather shoes. The canvas shoes, they’re both materials, but the canvas does not, um, where, and hold together as a originally or as well as the, um, as the leather ones do because it’s a lot thicker materials. So it’s got a lot more aware and durability, durability to it. So if it’s not installed properly, so when they go to install it, if they just use knee kickers or if they just are laying in place, uh, another reason can be that it is too cold. They don’t let the carpet acclimate. If the carpet does not acclimate to the temperature, can’t stretch as well because think of, um, if you take any type of a, Oh, you can take your clothes and if you get them, get them damp and you get them down to say 20 degrees, uh, they’re going to be stiff as a board even though they’re a soft fabric, it will become stiff and rigid because of the.
[04:47] Because they become so cold and. But if you heat something up, you warm it up, it can become more pliable and if you get it really hot it can become almost melty, like plastic. So carpet is the same way. It can react to the temperature that is when it’s being installed. So if you try to stretch a carpet that’s only 40, 30, 50 degrees, 60 degrees, even the carpet will be really stiff and a lot more rigid, less elasticity in it. And so you’ll stretch it. You’ll think, oh, it’s only got a quarter inch of stretching it and Carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. I’ve seen this so many times where somebody will have the carpet installed in the wintertime. The heat’s not on yet, or it’s a new construction house with no heat and the people will move in and within 30 days or sometimes within six months the carbon has big wrinkles in it and the reason is because now the carpet has relaxed its acclimated to the regular temperature because you keep your house at 70, typically throughout the year and it’s a lot more humid in the house and so the carpet’s will relax and once they do relax, now you’re going to get wrinkled everywhere because now the carpet is bigger than the area that was put into Carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998.
[05:50] We’re covering some of the reasons why the carpet need be stretched in this first reason is just poor installation. We’ll cover some of the other reasons in future podcasts.
