[00:00] This is episode 27 and we’re gonna. Continue talking about stretching or move onto the next part of stretching of the why. Why does it need to be stretched? [00:50] We’ve expanded our offerings into carpet cleaning, tile cleaning, upholstery cleaning, repair, researching. Uh, we can pretty much get all of your carpet maintenance needs taken care of. Really, once it’s installed, we take care of everything you need to maintain the life and longevity of your carpet. We’re going to talk this time, this episode again about stretching and the last episode we were covering, one of the main reasons or one of the quick reasons why carpet would stretch is because of poor installation. And we covered the two main topics or main reasons that carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998 that we have seen a happen is that people will, um, they will put their carpet in and the installers just do a bad job. One of the reasons that this can be is because they did not allow the carpet to climatized to the area. Uh, this is because maybe the is coming from the north, somewhere up north where a lot of the, uh, manufacturing facilities are and it’s winter time.

[01:45] So it’s really cold there or is on a shipping truck for a long time. Carpet gets here on a day, it gets dropped, ship straight to the house and they go out to that day to go and install the carpet and very cold weather. And the carpet is hard stiff, it is not a climatized to the um, area that is going to be installed into. And so when they stretch the carpet out, it is stiff when we do carpet, really stretching. One of the things that we may focus on that we make sure that as we do every time is that we cannot restrict to the carpet and when it’s below 65 degrees. So if you’ve got a house that’s been sitting vacant for awhile, we need to have that heat on in there for at least a few hours before we get into the stretch it because carpet is, um, uh, is very susceptible to heat in that small range because it’s really just a large, huge chunk of glue set to it connected to a big backing, which is the netting with all these little fibers pushed into it. carpet stretching Tulsa

[02:39] So all the little fibers are pushed into the glue to try to keep them held into the backing of the carpet. This in turn causes the carpet to all hold together, but also causes it to be able to be susceptible to heat all glue. I think of hot melt glue because we’re very good example. If you take your hot melt glue and you’re wanting to put it together, I a arts and crafts project, carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. I’ve had many times where I’ve got that opportunity to do a little arts and crafts project with my kids.

[03:12] They want to be able to just jump right into what it is that we’re working on. I’m able to put the glue right onto it, but if you’re using hot melt glue, you know that you’ve always got to let that a hot glue gun heat up first and so part of the process is getting it up to temperature, but once it gets up to temperature than the glue that comes out of the glue gun will almost drip out of the end. But if you look at those little glue sticks before you had them to heat it up, they’re almost like drumsticks. It can be. They’ve got a little bit of bendy flexibility to them, but really you could use them as a drumstick and they would actually have a bit of a a heft to them. But you heat them up past their melting point and all of a sudden they turn into, you know, like a spaghetti or they become this really soft mushy thing and carpet can be the same way in that it needs to be at the right temperature, needs to be acclimated, act climatized to the area that is going to be stretched into.

[04:05] Because if it’s going to be, let’s just say a 100 degrees in the area and you stretch it, well it’s only 60 by the time it warms up to 100, it’s going to be a lot more supple, is going to be a lot more relaxed than it was when it was at 50 degrees. That’s a large example, but it’s the same thing that happens in your house. If it’s only 50 or 60 degrees in the house when you stretch the carpet in and then the house warms up to 70. That carpet’s going to relax a lot more than it was when it was first installed. Now most homes never get above about 75 so you don’t have to worry about warming it all the way up to 80 or 92 where it’s the most relaxed because the carpet will never reach that temperature, so we’ll stay stiff just like I wouldn’t need to worry about the glue sticks and what type of shape and form that they’re going to stay in at a hundred degrees because my art project that I did with my kids is just going to be sitting in the house and it’s never going to get up to that type of temperature. carpet stretching Tulsa

[05:03] So we keep the glue up to that temperature, make it soft and malleable, use it throughout the project that we’re trying to create and make and then when it cools back down they will hold its shape and whatever it is. The carpets. A lot like that because a huge amount of your carpet is glue the backing and the glue holding all the different pieces together of the carpet and that’s what allows it to be able to have a little bit of its flexibility and be able to. With you walk on it. Have some movement that won’t be hard, rigid, and break every time you step on it, it can still flex and kind of move like a rubber band, but overtime that rubber band gets stiff and starts to relax because of motion, so one of the main reasons you get wrinkles in your carpet if it’s within the first years because the installers just did not do a good job.

[05:48] Either they get it tight enough or they did not take the time to let it get up to temperature so that when they stretched it, it would be a relaxed rubber bandy about if it was too stiff.
