Um, was covered in our previous podcast, talking about the different aspects of why you should get your carpets restretched. I’m one of the important parts of restructuring carpet is that you keep that you extend the life of the carpet, but you also keep it flat and, um, trip hazard free, but a tighter, flatter carpet will last longer.
[00:52] If you take a carpet and you glue it straight to the ground, even with lots of people walking across it, you can get a really long term of life across it. Even with tremendous amount of where like they do in commercial applications, uh, one of the things that we talked about, our previous podcast was carpet that was installed improperly and so it ends up with wrinkles if it just wasn’t a put a stretch on it or the carpet was too cold when it was installed, it wasn’t allowed to climatize. carpet stretching Tulsa They can end up being too stiff and just it relaxes after it’s been installed. And then you end up with wrinkles in the first six to 12 months. Um, if you go past that part and you here in Oklahoma, you’ll have another reason for wrinkles in the carpet, carpet restructuring a is that you ended up with somebody that has a high humidity, low humidity or a big temperature swings like we have here in Oklahoma.
[01:42] This can cause the carpet to stiffen up and then relax and then stiffen up and relax, stiffen up and relax. And over time the carpet will relax more than it stiffens up. And it ended up a little bit bigger than the room. And that’s where you end up with a wrinkled, a core problem with stretching is that the carpet itself has grown or has relaxed to a point that it’s a bigger than it was when it was installed. Now it doesn’t take a lot. Um, it only takes about a half an inch to create a wrinkle. I’m the most I’ve ever stretched out of a carpet over 20 years of doing this carpet stretching Tulsa, um, since 1998. And one of the things that we’ve done is we’ve run into times where we’ll have a long hallway, a really big game room. And even in a situation like that, you will only get maybe two or three inches of extra carpet.
[02:28] He may end up having to cut off, which is a lot of extra carpet, but it’s not something that is a big, uh, is big of a problem that some people think it may be on average carpet will grow about a half an inch per 10 feet. So if you got a 20 foot room, you may get a full inch of extra stretch out of it over its lifetime. To compensate for this when it’s installed, they should install it and put about one inch stretch means they put the carpet flat and tight and then they go about one inch past that, but a cover rubber band effect on it to stretch into place. That way the carpet will hold it in place. Carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. I’ve done hundreds if not thousands of jobs throughout the years where we’ve gone in there to stretch and made sure that we got the carpets flat and in good shape again.
[03:15] Um, the temperature cycle going up and down is a good reason why the carpet will need to be stretched because the carpet just relaxing going out. Um, another reason that carpet needed to be stretched is for water damage. This is also called a relay because, um, a lot of times with water damages, they’ll pull up the carpet to be either removed the pad or to extract the water. And in these circumstances you’ve got to be able to get that carpet dry first and then, uh, then put the carpet back into place. And part of the drying process typically involves either removing the pad and then putting bands on it to dry it or just putting bans on it and laying the carpet back so they blow air directly onto the padding to try to dry that out also. But either way when it’s dry and it’s completely finished, you need to come back in and relay the carpet.
[04:03] This is also a stretching a. They just give it a little bit of a different term, but it’s another reason why you might need us to come out and do some stretching is because you’ve had a little bit of water problems or a peering peering is another one. Somebody will come out and they will pull the carpet back to either do the injection foam underneath the slab to try to lift it up. carpet stretching Tulsa. Or they actually do the traditional big piers where they dig a hole down into the ground, you know, put, appear down in there, hold up, Jack up the base of the foundation and then put it back in. And then once they’re finished, you then restretch the carpet back in or relay the carpet back in place. And these are both, um, another reason why we might need to get your carpets are restretched or to relay back in place.
[04:43] And uh, we do this pretty real frequently falling behind I’m period companies or behind a disaster restoration companies as they have taken the carpet out, they’ve gotten it all dried or prep or they’ve redone the floors and now they want to put the carpet back in place. The carpet still in good shape. Um, carpet typically can get wet once or twice, maybe three times and still be okay if it sets wet for a long time, it starts to soften the glue and the backing and there’s a chance that you ended up with the lamination. We could do a whole series a sometime in the future about dilemmas nation than what that means and what that means to you and your carpet if you decarbonize, do get wet too often. Uh, but each of those situations, whether you’ve got to have water damage or you’re having period done, we can get in there.
[05:26] And put that carpet back into place the way it was, and we’re not just going to put it back in, kind of just lay it into place. We’re actually gonna power, stretch it, or kick it and put that tension, a little bit of tension back onto that carpet so that it is back away. It was originally before you had the piering down or before you had the water damage work done. We complete carpet perfectly in Tulsa, Tulsa, and surrounding communities.
