Um, we covered the last time about some of the different reasons that might be stretched it for the first six months, a year, poor installation, um, different temperature changes as it’s the five to seven year mark as it just gets humid and then dry and humid and dry in different weather cycles that caused the carpet to just relax over time. Or maybe you’ve pulled the carpet up because you had a water damage or you had a peering that needed to be done and the carbon navy pulled back up and now it needs to be put back down in place. And now we’re going to cover it. The, this particular time we’re going to cover the, uh, the actual process that’s needed to stretch the restretch the carpet or stretched the carpet into place after it’s been installed. And you’ve noticed some wrinkles, probably one other reason that pops up as far as why people stretch. Obviously it’d been a trip hazard is a good reason to get it stretched. [01:57] The one of the things that we’ve noticed many times people want to sell their home and so they want to provide a good image for the, for the potential buyer to be able to want to buy their home. A lot of times you’ve got really nice carpet that looks good. That is, you know, no major tears or rips in it. No big stains, no pet spots everywhere, but it does have a wrinkle right in the front entryway and when the potential buyer walks into that house, they’re going to see that wrinkle first thing off and they’re gonna say, okay, this carpet just needs to be replaced in for whatever reason. I mean a large house can definitely take a big chunk out of a couple of, out of thousands of dollars of just carpet and installation of new padding and all of that.

Let’s just say you’ve got a 10 or a $100,000 home and so their first offer is going to be $90,000 because they think it’s going to cost $10,000 to replace the carpet because they’ve seen one wrinkle and in everybody’s mind if you see a wrinkle, that means the carpet is damaged or destroyed beyond help and it cannot be fixed. Whereas really for maybe two, three, $400, the carpet could be stretched and add all the wrinkles taken out and then the person walks in and doesn’t just immediately discount whatever your asking price is by the amount that they think it will cost to replace the carpet. You can take that off the table so it won’t add value to your home. You’re not going to see more value than what the house is worth, but you will save the value in your home, which I think is just as important. Carpet stretching Tulsa.
[03:32] Anytime you go to sell your home, it’s always good to walk around and invite all the areas, the easy areas you can take care of quickly and save the value of the home that you already have. Even if the carpets, you know you’re going to get rid of it anyway, but you want to get in there and get that part taken care of quickly so that it doesn’t become a potentially a trip hazard for everyone who walked through that area. Get that flat again. Uh, the other part that I think that the stretching is very important for is that it helps to extend the life of the carpet. And we’ll go over this in more detail in the next episode, but loose carpet is a will continue to become more. Lucy will continue to damage. So if you start to see a wrinkle and you get it tightened again, it will stay tight for really the rest of their life, the carpet.
[05:03] But if you leave it loose, that carpet will start to break down. You end up with bad de lamination and the carpet would just wear out faster because I’m just like, we talked in a previous episode. If you take a metal coat hanger and you can put a jacket on it and we’ll just. As long as it’s just got that static tension on it all the time. It could last 10, 15, 20 years as a coat hanger hanging in your closet, but you could take that same coat hanger out and start bending up and down, up and down, up and down. And really it won’t last five to 10 minutes with you bending it back and forth before that metal finally breaks just because it’s your bending beyond its flexibility points.
