So give us a call today at one of the things that’s important for keeping your carpets tight and flat is that loose carpet becomes more loose. I was talking about this in previous episodes, but it is a very important to be able to maintain the life of your carpet is that you keep the carpet tightened flat.
[01:06] You’ll see this in a commercial areas. Uh, your home may only have five or 10 people that are in that home that walk around, but a business like say, uh Oh, a movie theater, and they will have carpet that is in the car that is down all the hallways and it’s been there for eight to 10 years and they’ve got thousands, tens of thousands of people every night coming in to watch movies and they’re walking along. carpet stretching Tulsa Those carpets and carpets are not all destroyed. They last a long time and the main reason for it is that they take the carpet and they physically glue it to the ground. When it cannot move, it cannot wear out nearly as fast as it does. If it can move. A lot of times the fiber doesn’t wear out on the carpet. It’s the backing that wears out that causes the problem because once the backing wears out, the fibers have nothing to stick to or nothing to be glued into and they will quickly deteriorate over time.
[01:57] What are the things that is important to help with this? Obviously most people are not going to glue their carpet to the floor in their homes because it’s a tremendous amount of work to try to take up again and also it is really uncomfortable for your regular everyday walk around. You don’t want to have carpet loose straight to the floor because it’s a little harder on your knees, like walking on concrete all the time. It’s the whole benefit in my opinion of carpet is that you can have that bit of padding underneath it and it feels a little softer. So if you want to get down on your hands and knees and play with the kids on the floor, you can without worrying about it being too stiff or worrying about wearing your knees out or taken all the hair off your knees. Carpet, stretching.
[02:36] carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. One of the big thing that we’ve noticed that really helps to extend the life of your carpet is the carpet stretching. Um, but the other thing that you can do to help it is a besides glue and the carpet to the floor is to put it thicker. I’m sorry, not just a thicker but a denser pads. You can have a very thin pad as long as it’s very dense and they have two different main ratings. There’s three different types of pads, but the main two that come out is your six pounds and eight pounds. You can go above an eight pound to say a 10 or 12 pound pad, but it that becomes like a map pad or like a tumbling pad. It becomes very stiff. I personally recommend eight pound because it’s a little bit stiffer, but still has a nice good feel to as to it as you walk across, but it elongates the life of the carpet by having it move less and less.
[03:25] The carpet moves the longer it will last. Also keeping the corporate tight keeps it from moving to a four. Your smaller, thinner pads, you can go with like a quarter inch, but I still stick with an eight to six or eight pounds. You can go with the lower ones of those contract grade ones caused the carpet to wear out faster. You get longer life out of a little bit denser pad. One part that’s real important carpet stretching Tulsa is in our fiber. One part we find this important for connecting with people is that they want to be able to have a carpet and not have to worry about replacing it right away. There’s a huge importance to making sure you clean it on a regular basis, vacuum on a regular basis because every time you step on that carpet it moves. If there’s a lot of sand and grit and dust and debris and that carpet, then it will cause that, uh, those, each of those areas to break down much, much faster because now it’s like every step you do is like rubbing sandpaper against itself and it will just completely wear out and break it down.
[04:23] One of the parts that you’ll see in this breakdown process is a process called de lamination carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. I’ve had many times where I’ve gone out for a water damage and I’ve had to say that I could restrict the carpet and make it flat. But, um, I do not suggest it because the carpet has the laminated, which means on a very simple terms, the backing of the carpet has separated itself from the actual fibers of the carpet. So you’ve got a far as general construction knowledge that carpet is constructed by taking fibers, putting them into glue, and then covering that, a glue with a backend and netted backing into the blew fuses, the backing, the netting to the fibers, um, through a little bit of a Mesh. And once that glue starts to break down because of wear and dirt and just lots of traffic, then the glue no longer holds the backing of the carpet to the fibers of the carpet.
[05:19] When the two separate, you get what they call it, the lamination, there’s a separation between the two. And so you’ll get wrinkles in. Odd Shapes are an odd places that cannot be flat because the backing of the carpet is flat. The carpet has puckered up, has separated from the backend. And so now it’s got a weird Hubbard, a product cross there. Sometimes it can be fixed with a small area, but most of the time if you’ve gotten that far your carpet so damaged that it’s best to start looking towards replacement.
