[00:46] Since 1998. We’ve added carpet cleaning, tile cleaning or repair, upholstery cleaning and carpet stretching, patching a to our services to be able to help you maintain the life of your carpet. A part of the carpet stretching process that we’ve gone over in the previous couple of episodes was talking about why carpet might be wrinkled to begin with, whether that’d be poor installation or maybe it’s the inclement weather that’s going up and down. Uh, it could be that it’s become wrinkled because people have just used the carpet. A lot of people just walking across the carpet or maybe a, you’ve pulled the carpet up because he had a water damage or maybe you’re needed appearing and you pulled the carpet back to be able to get down and put the peers in the concrete. There’s lots of different reasons why you may have wrinkles in your carpet. And so we’ve addressed a lot of those different ones.

[01:38] And now I want to talk about the actual stretching process. What’s involved, and I get this question quite often is they’ve never had their carpet stretched before. And so they’re wondering what is this magical process called stretching? A carpet stretching really is a very, very similar. It’s the same general process as carpet installation. Uh, the one caveat to it, the one thing that makes carpet stretching a potentially more difficult than carpet installation is that with carpet installation, you’ve got a piece of carpet that’s six to 12 inches too big for the room, and so it’s, it’s just laying in place. And so you start cutting it into place and then you stretch it and then you cut it in, you’re stretching and cut it. So you’re always, you’ve got plenty of extra carpet. So whatever cut or however you stretch it, it’s going to fit in the area with carpet restructuring, the carpet has already been cut.

[02:33] So you cannot stretch a room past the doorway without moving the doorway. You can’t stretch a room towards, uh, a, uh, let’s say there’s a pole or a curve or something like that. If you move, you stretch, you take all the carpet past that curve. We’re past that pole. Now all the carpet has moved a half an inch to an inch in that direction. And any cuts that are already there into the carpet. Now all those cuts move with it. carpet stretching Tulsa So if you went down a hallway, let’s say there was five doorways in the hallway and you needed to stretch two inches out of the hallway because it’s a long hallway and you stretched it from one end all the way to the other than all five of those doorways are all gonna, move by two inches, and so the five rooms that they’re connected to are also all got to twist and so you’ll create wrinkles into all the rooms because now the carpet they’re connected to the hallway has moved, but the room hasn’t moved and so that’s where a lot of people find frustration in not having any of the experience or the knowledge of how to be able to get a carpet flat.

[03:32] I’m in an area while still keeping all of the cuts in the right place and sometimes it gets to be very unique and that you need to try to break a seam or find creative ways to stretch carpets. Other Times you have to do what’s called double stretching, which means you stretch in two separate directions. You stretch one way, take a little half the room is wrinkle in, say to the front, and then stretch the up in the direction of way from it and take the other half of the wrinkle to the back and that way the carpet can become tight by flattening it out. When you have a wrinkle in a carpet carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. We’ve seen this so many times where there’ll be a wrinkle in a room and the first stretch you need to do is just to get it flat, and this is where a lot of people I think run into problems or have an error, is they’ll have somebody come out that says they’ll restretch the carpet for them and all they do is get the carpet flat and within a month or six months or a year and the carpets wrinkled again because they didn’t put the carpet, put tension back onto the carpet again.

[04:33] All they did was just move the wrinkle. Either somewhere else in the room or are they just got the carpet flat like an area rug. And if you do that and the carpet already was kind of loose to begin with, if you don’t put some tension back onto it and then would you go to walk across it and as you start to use it, normally it will just, it’ll just relax and that there’s no tension there. So it’s still his movie just as much as it was when it was wrinkled. Uh, you just moved the wrinkle part out and this is very important carpet. Stretching Tulsa is our fiber and there’s a reason that this is important is that you need to be able to take and have that little bit of rebound, that little bit of a rubber band type of a tension to be able to suck up any potential extra carpet or any potential relaxation that carpet has going on into the future.

[05:21] What we do to always test our stretches is that will go into the middle of the room and grab, take two to have about a foot apart, grabbed the fibers, pull up to let kind of pull the carpet up off the floor and then let it go and have pumps and laid back flat in two to three seconds. Then it’s got enough tension on the carpet and it should be good if you pull it up and you’ll go with both hands and the carpet takes four, five, six seconds to kind of float down like a sheet. Like when you do the sheets on your bed and you kind of fluffed the sheet and all of a sudden it kind of floats down to the thing and it’s not just popping right back down. Then your carpets are a little too loose. We are complete carpet, carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. We’d love for you to give us a call at nine.
