[00:00] This is episode 2:36 and we’re gonna. Continue talking about stretching, Carpet stretching Tulsa is that our fiber? And we’d love to connect with you. Give us a call today at nine, one, eight, four, nine, four, seven, zero, nine three, or check out our website@completecarpettulsa.com carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. It allows us to expand into carpet cleaning, tile cleaning, carpet repair, restructuring and upholstery cleaning. Whatever it is that you need to keep and maintain the health and wellbeing of your carpet. We can help you with, uh, we’re gonna. Continue off some of the ideas we had before. We’ve talked about why you need to have your carpet stretched. Uh, one of the main reasons is to prolong or extend the life of your carpet. Another side reason is that you can remove a trip hazard having a hump in the carpet as you try to walk across.

[00:47] I can catch your feet even for little kids or for adults, especially the elderly people who are shuffled their feet a little bit more and they’re more prone to catch anything that’s small on the carpet. Another reason is that it’s just unsightly, uh, that if you want to try to sell your home or show your home, if you’ve got people coming over and they see big wrinkles as they walk in, they may or may not say it out loud, but we all judge internally. Carpet stretching Tulsa We say, Oh man, look, that doesn’t look right. It’s Kinda like fingerprints smudges on the wall. It just doesn’t seem like it’s at a tight, flat clean like it should look. And this can also throw off your sales price if you’re trying to sell your home because someone’s gonna walk in and just immediately think there’s five to $10,000 worth of carpet that going to have to replace.

[01:28] I’m not knowing that for only two to $500, you can just have that carpet restretch they’d be able to get right back in and be able to have good still usable functional carpet. They just think it must be replaced. The next part we talked about are other reasons why the carpet may have been stretched to begin with. Carpet stretching Tulsa Um, whether that be a poor installation where someone just didn’t take the time to install it correctly or didn’t use the right tools or you have times where somebody comes in and installs it in the wrong season or wrong, whether now you can install it in any weather, but if the carpet is coming from a different place or the house is not climate controlled. Let’s say the new house has been sitting around or somebody turned off electricity. You’ve got to get the house up to at least 68 to 70 degrees so that the carpet can be installed and have enough elasticity so there’ll be stretchable to be able to get put into a stretched into place.

[02:19] Otherwise you’ll install the carpet and just right away within a mother to the carpets will relax and it will become bigger than it was originally and it will have wrinkles everywhere. Purpose, stretching, Tulsa’s and our fiber and we’ve seen this over and over where somebody will have new carpet installed and within just a few weeks or a month or a year. If the carpets wrinkled again. And this almost always is because the installer either didn’t power stretch or the installer did not let the carpet come up to room temperature before they started installing it. So the carpet was too stiff, they couldn’t stretch it, get any rubber bandy stretch out of it so they would be able to hold it, stretch. Another reason, Carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998 when I’ve seen this hundreds of times, is for um, uh, water damage or a appearing or sometimes even on the simple side without any damage or reason for the carpet.

[03:08] They’ll just pull up the carpet to be able to throw foot down some cables. Maybe you want to bury your entertainment centers, cables or the TV cable, go cross telephone cable. It goes across a room and you want to put it under the carpet instead of sitting on top. So all of these different situations are ones where you want to be able to stretch the carpet back in place. Now some people will just lay it back in place and Tuck it in. And if you do that, you’re guaranteed to get wrinkles. If you don’t already have them, they’ll pop up very quickly because the carpet that needs to have a trampoline like effect trampoline, like stretch on it so that it can, if it does grow in any way, it’s got some, uh, stretchiness to, to absorb that extra, uh, extra growth from the carpet, carpet, stretching pulses and our fiber.

[03:50] And we’d love to come out and help you get you taken care of. We also covered in a previous podcast about how you can get out there and get your carpet stretched. Now we’ll use a small closet. You use a chisel and a knife and a, what you’re trying to do is you’re trying to, you need to tag one side of the room is your anchor and that’s what you will pull away from. And the other side of the room. You’re pulling all of that extra carpet up to the wall, stretching the against the tax. And once you know that the wall that you pulled from hasn’t moved and the wall that you’re going to is now tight, you then cut off the excess carpet and Tuck it into the crack between the wall. And the between the baseboard and the floor. Carpet stretching Tulsa Now some homes do not have this crack and they end up having more stretching problems in homes with the with a regular truck space have the space is if you may or may not have seen this before, but a your carpet is a goes into a small gap between where the tack strip is and where your baseboard is and typically the baseboard sits about a quarter inch to half an inch off the ground and so that you can take the carpet, you tuck it up onto the tack strips, and then you then you let the edge of it go underneath the wall a little bit so that it will hold it as two things.

[04:59] One, it will block that airspace so that you don’t get drafting air coming in from your walls. Also, it holds the edge of the carpet down. Now, some homes, especially older homes, either put quarter round around the outside or the builder was lazy and they just took the baseboards and stuck them straight onto the floor straight onto the concrete. If this happened, that that carpet’s going to end up wrinkled faster than other carpets because if a carpet has tuck space, then as that carpet grows, it has the capacity, has the availability to grow and kind of just go under the wall and just kind of goes out like every area rug in the living room, it. It grows, but there’s nothing budding up against the edges of it and so when it grows, it doesn’t get a wrinkle and sometimes you’ve seen an area rug and it’s got a couch sitting right on the edge of it and right where the foot of the couch touch the area rug.

[05:43] It starts to get a wrinkle there because now you’ve got something holding that in place. While the rest of it it can move. The same thing will happen in a room that has quarter round around the outsides so the carpet gets any bigger at all. It cannot go into tech space. It can only go back into the middle of the room. Whereas rooms that have a tech space, if the carpet Rose A. Little bit, it actually can just go in under the wall and he likes to just kind of a level itself out.
