[00:01] This is episode 2:58. We are complete carpet, carpet stretching. Tulsa. We’re going to talk this time about patching and how to make a good or perfect patch. Um, we’d love for you to check out more information about us. Carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. Carpet stretching Tulsa is that our fiber? And we, uh, we’ve been expanding our services into new areas that we can help you with, whether that be in carpet cleaning or tile cleaning, patching, repair, stretching. We can help you in a whole different variety of areas. And today we’re going to be talking about patching, um, many times.

[00:55] Probably the top couple of reasons that we see people need to get a patch is from pets. Pet damage where they get in there and they decided to. There’s something in the carpet that just strikes their fancy, maybe they, maybe there’s a little loose fiber or loose thread or a something that smells, or maybe somebody has spilled a drink or spilled something on the carpet that they takes an interest in pet and may want to try to dig out at Claude, pull out it and dig downs written. Carpet stretching Tulsa They ended up making a little hole in the carpet. Uh, another way of pet can damage the carpet is that, uh, they can go into a room and the door gets shut and then they freak out because they’re trapped inside of a room. And so they try to dig their way out, uh, sort of like a dog and a backyard and they want to try to dig through the grass and the dirt to get to the, uh, under the fence.

[01:46] They’ll do the same thing to the door. They’ll just start going and digging out the carpet until they can try to dig their way under the door, which obviously is not something that’s going to happen. Carpet stretching Tulsa So most of the time they just go until they tear up the carpet. And then they’ll either pull it back or rip it back. I’ve seen a large dog actually grab a corner of carpet and pull it all the way halfway across the room before just get into a tug of war contest with the carpet. And typically the dog will win. Um, other, um, areas that we see that need to be patched are times where something where humans, child or an adult have spilled something like say, paint or glue or something into the carpet that is gone in there, hardened up and saturate all the way through to the mat gain.

[02:30] If it’s just topical, it’s like a light splash, maybe little fingernail Polish drips or some paint drips from something that you can kind of just trim those off the top. We typically always recommend if you can, if you’ve got something that’s topical that’s just sitting on the fiber, not down in the fiber that you try and just trim it off the top. And that way you don’t have a weakened the whole carpet itself by using chemicals that are too strong for the vacuum the carpet. Because a lot of times what will break down paint also will break down the glue that’s holding the carpet together. Carpet stretching Tulsa that are fiber. We’d love to connect with you today. Today we’re talking about carpet stretching. Um, but more specifically we’re talking about carpet patching and how to repair those areas that has been damaged from some different sources like your pets or maybe a child or a person who has just spilled something onto the carpet or a.

[03:21] It may not be something hard that you can’t get out. It may be something colorful, like I’m a hair dye a. we’ve run into quite a few quite often where somebody will come in and have a bottle here tonight and it will fall and splash or they have done their hair dye and they walked up the hallway. Don’t realize that they’ve left a bunch of little spots throughout and another reason is also your entry and exit points through the house. Sometimes they just get really worn down to people walk on them or traffic across them a lot and that that threshold starts to fall apart because if the carpets get loose, then the carpets at the edges can move up and down. Carpet tacks on the tack Strip, um, hold the carpet in place that those sharp tacks, if the carpet the loose, could also act like a bunch of little small needles and just stab the back of the carpet, um, until it’s completely shreds it if it’s allowed to move up and down on top of it.

[04:14] So every time you step on it, you’re stepping it back down on them. Those sharp tack strips, again, it can slowly chew up or eat away at the carpet. And so in all of these situations, carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998, we come in and are able to cut that carpet out. Now it’s really important when you’re cutting a patch that you have a really clean cut. You don’t want to cut through the fibers, you want to cut between the fibers. If you’ve got through the fibers are to have fibers that are cut in half and you put, try to put back in a new piece next to fibers that have been cut in half. It’s going to look sculpted or it’s gonna look, you’re gonna be able to see the seam all the way around the edges, but if you get down in between the fibers and leave full length fibers to be able to be seen mack up to full length fibers, then that piece can be, seemed in, are patched back in without being able to see the, uh, that there was a patch there at all.

[05:01] It’s the same process that is used to install the carpet originally. Carpet Searching Tulsa since 1998. Um, we have had thousands of times that we’ve had experienced to be able to make patches and areas look like new again. Uh, we typically, uh, we can take patching material from existing carpet. Maybe you had the carpet installed and kept a little roller bolted the carpet. That way you could have some patches done later in case damage happens. What other thing that also could cause a reason to patch carpet is in front of a fireplace, a maybe a little ember or a log balls out of the fireplace and put the little burn or a hole in the carpet there in front of it. Um, and so what we could do in those cases, and we’ll just take the existing carpet that you have, it needs to be an exact match.

[05:48] You can’t go out and find another piece of carpet that matches your carpet for a patch. You always have to use the existing carpet, the original carpet that was installed the first time. Um, so if you have a piece of that carpet, if you don’t, if you didn’t keep a piece of it, well we can do is they can go to a closet, go to the corner of a closet where no one would really notice or see it cut out a square. That’s an exact match for the piece that we took from the damaged area. And then we’ll just swap the two pieces. So you have the damaged area will be in the corner of a closet where no one will see it and then and the area that is in eyesight or in front of everyone that walked through a doorway or in the front, the middle of the living room, because now be fixed with a patch from the closet to to have a brand new piece of looking carpet to replace the damage.
