Carpet Stretching Tulsa | Episode 260

Carpet Stretching Tulsa | Episode 260

[00:00] This is episode two 60 that we’re going to talk this time about the art of Carpet Stretching Tulsa that are fiber. We are complete carpet and we’d like to talk to you. So give us a call at nine one eight, four, nine, four, seven, zero, nine three. Um, there is an arch to carpet. Stretching is similar to the installation of carpet, but it is a little different in that new carpet when you install it is of big blank canvas, a big square piece of carpet. Then you mold into the shape of the room in the house that it needs to go into a. You may take that square piece, add more pieces to it to be able to fill the whole space in. You always fill it in with about three to six inches of extra carpet on the side so that as you move and stretch and pull it, um, you have extra to work with.

[00:49] You have extra material that, you know, if I stretch it this direction, I’m moving an extra inch it as an extra inch to go. Or if I realize the whole room’s not quite squared after moved the carpet again, I can make sure there’s extra carpet to make that arrangement it, move it around, and then when I pull it tight I have lots of carpet to, to adjust it and then cut off the excess once I’ve finished the difference. That’s the new installation process. A carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. We’ve had lots of experience to um, started off installing. And so no, the whole process were to install on a very basic level. Installation is somewhat like putting a fitted bed sheet on you first need to put two corners of your feet fitted bed sheet on. So you get like one side quarter and you but the other quarter in.

[01:35] And then you pull away from it to the third quarter. That third corner, we’ll pull the second corner tight and kind of pull that down and Tuck it underneath. So now you’ve got your, your second and your third quarter of pulled tight to each other. But the first quarter it’s kind of still living loose because the fourth quarter is, has not been getting put down yet. I say you go over to that fourth quarter, just like on a fitted bed sheet and pull that fourth quarter tight against the third. The second, third, and first quarter is kind of at this angle, stretch all the way into the corner of the room. And that is um, uh, the same process in the same way that carpet is installed, uh, by going through and taking and putting to swallow your first two quarters, make those tight, and then you pull all the rest of the carpet pulls away from that to create a tension, a trampoline effect, a stretched and carpet as opposed to gluten.

[02:28] Carpet sits over a padding and tax reform aside that have pins, little nails that folks face upwards, kind of like little spikes may face away from the room. They kind of put towards the outside walls. That way when you put the carpet and Tuck it into that tuck space, it then we’ll pull against it and you go to the other side of the room, attach it, kinda like putting a rubber band or a bungee cord onto two items that kind of pulling it together. One thing that’s important, carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998, um, that we have seen many times is that you need to make sure that you are putting the proper amount of stretch. And also it helps if you have a tuck space. Some older houses or some lazy builders, they put the baseboards just flat on the ground. They don’t want to go through and find the right gap, but the right half inch gap along the whole baseboards, it kind of sits above the floor.

[03:21] They actually just stick them straight down onto the floor and then they just nail them in. That way they don’t have to worry about trying to properly gap them. They just drop them to the ground. Uh, the problem with this is that the carpet then has to tuck into the space between the tack Strip and the baseboard. And it’s a very small space and there’s no room for extra growth for the carpet. If it grows it all, it hits the baseboard to. There’s no way to go past the baseboard and so carpets that are installed that way or with baseboard like that, they typically wrinkled faster than other carpets or the carpet that has a proper tuck space, which is typically about a half an inch up. Carpet Stretching Tulsa That way the carpet can go over the tax and in an under the baseboard and that way the baseboard goes on top of the tack strip instead of or on top of the carpet instead of carpet going cut right next to it, and then if the carpet does relax and grow a little bit, it will be able to give.

[04:09] It has about a half an inch of movement that it can go underneath the wall a little bit further. As it relaxes, all carpet does relax because just the same way that a rubber band that you put on as tight on something five years later has lost a little bit of. It’s a lasting city and so it’s not quite as tight. It may still be still be there and flat, but it’s not as tight. Carpet Stretching Tulsa since 1998. The most common research that we get is about the five to seven year mark here in Oklahoma with high humidity, low humidity and traffic. Carpets, relaxed, stiffened up, relax, stiffen up, relax, stiffen up. And overtime they relaxed the stiff enough and they, uh, they give about an inch of extra carpet. Most stretches that we do, we stretch out maybe an inch or two of carpet. I think the largest amount that ever stretched out of one job was two and a half, maybe three inches, which is a tremendous amount of extra carpet.

[04:59] And it was in a really large room. It was like 45 by 30 room was extremely large and so it had a ton of. I’m get at a ton of carpet to have extra give on average carpet. Typically will stretch about a half an inch per every 10 feet is the amount that we’re relaxed. So most of the time when it’s installed, you stretch it about an inch more than, you know, you lay it flat and then you give it one extra inch of stretch and that will pull it tight and keep it tight because as it, as they walk on it and they move around on it, it will, um, it will slowly grow, but the tension in the carpet will absorb any extra growth. Carpet Stretching Tulsa It’s real similar to having a new pair of leather shoes or a nice pair of dress shoes you put them on at first and they’re really stiff and tight.

[05:48] And then as you walk around and wear them, they slowly kind of mold to your foot and they start to conform and they’ll, as you wear them for a long time, they don’t just continue to get bigger indefinitely, but they will start to mold to your foot and kind of fit to that shape.
