[00:00] This is episode two 69, and in this episode we’re going to be talking about proper planning and how to make sure that you’ve got everything prepared for when you do something as opposed to trying to figure it out when they get there. Sometimes it can be a better quality of life during the time that you have the carpet because sometimes people just don’t want to have carpet for 15 to 20 or 30 years. [02:26] You can get a little smaller roadside emergency kit. Let’s say that, uh, you blow a flat tire or you run out of gas or you have some engine trouble and you’re stuck somewhere. Do you have a small little thing that can help you to potentially either fix one of those situations or to create a nice, a nice cone of protection around your vehicle while you’re waiting for help to come? Uh, this particular example, a good preparedness thing would have a small emergency kit that have a flashing light in case your battery goes out or your battery goes dead, that you put behind your car to alert people behind. Now to be able to reinflate it might have some emergency, a little flair, a some type of thing in there to help you to maintain some flashlights.
[03:14] Case it’s dark. We’re trying to look to see what might be the problem. I’m going to have the same. My wife loves to have an emergency kit for the house in case we ever go without power or without a bad weather, a storm, whether it be cold or just rain, that she has something that’s prepared at all times that has a bunch of flashlights in. It’s a extra batteries, has a candle in case the electricity goes out in the flashlights go dead. You can’t just use your last forever. Did you want to eventually run through all your batteries? You have a few candles that you can light up or maybe some woods somewhere he could light a fire in case it’s cold. Um, and these are important because you’re preparing for something before it happens. And I’ve heard this many times where I, uh, uh, another company will come out and they would have to turn down a job, but they can’t do a job because they get there and they aren’t prepared to do whatever it is that they have.
[04:04] A worst case scenario. I’ve actually heard a few people, a falsely or wrongly, I’m direct their customers to doing something that are believing something that’s not true because of that particular person’s lack of planning. Um, they then believe that it’s just not possible because that particular person didn’t plan to do it. They communicate to the customer that they can’t be done. For example, I had a job, carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. We’ve had many examples like this, but this particular one on there and cleaning the carpets and there’s, you can see the tack strip going into the kitchen and it sticks out and it kind of pokes in her feet and I could feel it against the wall and it kind of caught the wall and so I let them know politely, but you know, if, if at any point in the future, if they were interested, we could repair that carpet so that they wouldn’t have to feel those tax anymore.
[04:52] And their response was, Nope, I’m sorry, that’s not fixable. And I was very surprised by this because um, I feel like I’d been doing this carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998, so I have at least 20 years of experience doing this for myself, running my own business. And I really felt like this is something that could be fixed, but I didn’t want to argue with the customer. So instead I just asked the question, I was inquisitive. I said, well, what makes you think or why do you think that this cannot be fixed? I said, well, the last carpet professional that was here, they told me. They said, nope, I’m sorry. That’s not fixable. Not a fixable thing. You would actually have to replace all the carpet. The carpet is just too badly damaged. There’s just no way to fix that. You would just have to replace carpet and so they were under the impression for the last couple of years and they had to just avoid those tax.
[05:34] Every time they walked into the kitchen carbon because they thought it was going to cost them $5,000 in new carpet to fix that one little problem, the carpet and I let them know that for one fraction of that cost we couldn’t do a repair across there and fix that and they wouldn’t have to worry about those tax anymore. carpet stretching Tulsa And so they went ahead and let me try to repair it and 30 minutes later I had it fixed up and they were able to walk into the kitchen for the first time in years without stepping on tax. And the customer looked at me and told me that my feet will forever. Thank you. And those types of things is because people weren’t prepared, they didn’t have one, they don’t have the knowledge of it, but two, they didn’t have the tools necessary to right there sit down and pick something that needed to be fixed.
