We’re going to talk about something not related to carpets but also somewhat related is your dust and dirt cycles. We talked in the last episode about how dust is a universal sandpaper and how, uh, one of the things that you could do that really helps to cut down or to eliminate a lot of the dust and the house is to on a regular basis, um, change out your air filters. Air filters really helped to, especially in the Tulsa Oklahoma area where we have a lot of tall and a lot of allergens.

[00:58] They also can help to reduce the amount of allergens you get from pets or from smoking or for a ragweed or pollen or tree mold, or there’s just so many different allergen sources and as good for your interior air to make sure that you are on a regular basis. Changing out those filters. Change out the filter has to good core functions of why you want to do on a regular basis. One a clogged filter. We’ll just destroy your a heat and air system. One, the air can’t get through the filter because it’s clogged. It’s very dirty and so it reduces the amount of airflow going through, which is extremely hard on your ac unit and hard on your heating unit. Your heating and air runs a lot more often because it’s not flowing enough air to really heat or cool. They’ll recipe play so it just puts a lot of strain on your heat and air system, so he wants your heat and air system to last a long time.

[01:47] Make sure you change out those filters every two to three months. Number two and the heat, a good filter can only filter out what it has the capacity to. It’s a lot. Think of it like a trashcan. Can that trash cans full than anything? A lot of the things that go in there, you’re either good, it’s going to stop air completely or it’s gonna eventually rip a hole or it’s going to tear it apart because it’s trying to move air through it. And so you want to make sure that you’re always perpetually taking that trash out and keeping that area clean and fresh. Uh, it makes a big difference for the also the rest of the house because it would reduce the amount of dust in there. You absolutely want to have an air filter in place, otherwise you’re just blowing all of that dirt and debris out throughout the whole house and it gets into the ducks.

[02:25] And then that just creates a lot of other unwanted habit. Um, I personally go and my about a year’s worth of air filters at once. Carpet Stretching Tulsa since 1998. I found that it’s a lot easier to swap out your filters when he just had one sitting there, a set, a Google calendar reminder that every three months or you can add another at a customer who said that they did it just on threes, so they knew if it was the third month of the year, they change out the air filter for the sixth month of the year. They change out the air filter. If it’s the ninth month of the year, it was time to change the air filter. The twelfth month of the year, it’s time to change the air filter, so whatever your technique is. I personally just put Google reminder and each time I changed the filter out, I just say Google put a reminder for three months from now and it says, okay, and sets up a reminder for three months from now, and then I swapped out another filter and I just have a stack of filter sitting downstairs.

[03:12] That way whenever it does come up time, I think about it, I can just go grab a filter and put it in. A lot of times the thought of, Oh yes, I’ll get that done the next time I’m over at home depot, Lowe’s, and then I’m at home, home depot or lowe’s for another three months. And so that filter just sits there, clogging up the system. One thing I’ve also noticed, a, I personally, I mean there’s a lot of different filters that are available. Carpet Stretching Tulsa since 1998. I’ve tried lots and lots of different styles from the washer bulls to the electrostatics to the, I think the best unit ones or the self cleaning, uh, energized units that you actually have a permanently installed into a unit. But that takes a lot of extra money and time and work I’ve been at for your regular filters, you’ve got your high end filters, the purple ones that are like 20 bucks a filter and then you have your middle grade one.

[03:57] There’s seven to $10 a filter. Like I think there’s a blue looking ones and he had the really cheap glass ones that are like a dollar or two or three. Um, personally I think they do absolutely no good at all. Um, they’re just a waste of your money if you’re, um, I, I personally use the $10 ones, the kind of blue or the white filters. I can tell the difference because my kids will actually start to sneeze once the filters are a, at their capacity and they’re no longer filtering. Well, they’re not longer filtering the air well in the house. And so every two, maybe three months I swapped mine out personally and this makes a huge difference for all of the dust and debris that goes around the house because now you don’t have to vacuum quite as much because every time the air kicks on, it doesn’t throw out as much dust and debris laying out everywhere.

[04:40] Carpet Stretching Tulsa since 1998. One of the other things that I would recommend you do at least every three months, every time you go to change out your air filters is change out all the air in your house. Um, we do kind of change the envelope of air within a house. Every now and then you’ll open a front door, you open the back door or you know, you’ve got some breeding areas. You’ve got some vents throughout the house that kind of let some air in and out, but some people have not changed out all the air in their house in six months or a year or maybe have never done it. Especially when you’re buying a new home or you’re wanting to get the carpets cleaned. Um, it’s a good time to go through and just open up all of the doors and windows in the house for at least two or three hours.

[05:18] Just leave everything just wide open. Let the outside air just come in and swap out all of the air you’ve got sitting in your house. You’ve got a ton of plants inside you can kind of get away with. Not without going very long without. I’m swapping all the air out your house, but if you don’t, uh, I’ve had many, a times where people, customers and found out that it carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. Over that 20 year period, many customers come and talk to me about how they found out that they were getting sick just being in their own home because the air quality was really terrible. They rarely ever changing the air out and that they, um, they tried doing all kinds of different things and found out that every time they left their home they felt better. And if you feel better when you leave your home, then that means the air quality in your home. It needs to be improved. And so you take these tips and find a, tried doing these on a three to six month basis. And I think you will find that you will enjoy the time you spend in your home.
