Also, uh, one of the things we get asked on a regular basis, permission anytime that we cleaned the carpets, get the question asked, is how often should you get your carpets cleaned?
Um, there’s no one set answer to this because it really matters a lot of paper based upon your dirt schedule. I jokingly tell a lot of customers that I’m after we’ve gotten the carpets cleaned, if you never walk on them again, you’ll never need to get them cleaned again. And this is partly true and also kind of serves the point of the reason to get the carpets cleaned is because you have done something to the carpets that you can’t just remove through normal means. Uh, on a regular maintenance schedule. You should be vacuuming on a regular basis at least a couple of times a week doing your, um, you know, the main entry points and made dirt entry points into your home and at least once or twice a month to do just kind of a wall, the wall or a full vacuum and you don’t need to move everything but just get through all the walk paths, all of your traffic areas so that we can keep the, as one of our episodes before we were talking about dust being the universal sandpaper.
Um, you’re wanting to get as much of that dust and debris out of the carpet as possible. Carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. One of the things that we’ve seen many times that people will neglect their vacuuming cycle and this will lead to a dirt buildup, but really a heavy dirt to build up or a dust buildup is okay because you can just vacuum it back out. The time that you need us is when you start to get not beyond just the dust and dirt buildup, but you start to get a sticky buildup. Um, a lot of this will manifest itself for young kids who have juice or sippy cups that they’ll walk around and turn the cups upside down and kind of just drip around places or they’re prone to spilling and putting sticky hands and sticky feet and sticky, um, little gummy bears or different things, food sources that they eat.
And so you have little kids and so you’ll need to clean the carpets on a six month, 12 month schedule because the kids are just kind of going around leaving little sugary footprints and fingerprints all over the place. Um, if you have teenagers, you have somewhat the similar type of thing, except now it’s soda pops and a coffee that drips and drinks that are out and around throughout the place or people who just will eat and leave a bag of chips on the floor or a banana peel or something of that nature that gets down and gets ground in the carpet and it’s not. Something can just be sucked up or vacuumed up with the vacuum because it’s left a sticky residue over the carpet. Carpet Stretching Tulsa that our fiber we love for you to check out some of the different things that we can do for you.
In this episode we’re talking about, um, some of the maintenance cycles and reasons to get it. So pretty much kids or teenagers, six to 12 months, you typically want to get something done just to remove some of the buildup of stickiness that is causing dirt to stick to the carpet and the vacuum is unable to pull it back up. Um, another thing that we run into on a pretty regular basis are those who are getting a little bit older and their hands are not as steady, so they’ll have their morning coffee and they go into the kitchen, get the morning coffee and they walked back to the table. Um, you end up getting a lot of little drips and splashes as they walk back to the table to sit down to read the newspaper. And so you’ll have this kind of continual traffic sugar pattern that builds up over time because you’ve got little bits of the coffee that’s fallen down on the carpet and now it’s collecting dust and dirt that the vacuum can’t suck up.
Another part that we noticed that needs to be on a more of a three to six months schedule is if you have multiple pets, one pet you can go six to 12 months, no problem. But if you have three, two, or three dogs or multiple cats, then you’ll need to get the carpets cleaned on a more regular basis. Carpet Stretching Tulsa And we’ve talked about this in previous podcasts, how the body oils of the pet, even if you keep them extremely clean, to have a healthy coat, they need to have an oily coat. And that way their hair is not stiff and brittle. It it’s soft and luxurious. But that soft and luxuriousness comes at a price for your carpet because you now have a layer of oil over all of the carpet fibers. Um, this is not so bad for just a month or two because remember the, for a pet, your, all of your flooring surfaces it’s bed and anywhere that it sheds, that hair gets onto the carpet and then every time you walk on it, you’re rubbing that hair into your carpet fibers and rubbing off all of the oils into your carpet.
That’s why you walk into a house and you’ll notice an overwhelming smell of wet dog or cat because the carpet has absorbed a lot of that oil and it now kind of permeates the fibers. And they now smell a lot like cat or dog carpet stretching Tulsa since 1998. We’ve seen this many times and be able to help tons of customers on a regular basis almost, I’d say almost on a daily basis that we’re helping customers that have pets. To take that grey look, that kind of brown, look at Hayes that’s over the carpet that’s built up from the oils, from the pet. Um, that typically is about a three to six month process. Sometimes you could go up to 12 months if you’re really take good care of your pets, brush them on a regular basis and clean them and wash them on a weekly or monthly basis.
Um, but for the majority of people, um, you hit about six month market, you’ll notice that your carpets are starting to look a little flat. Uh, that’s because the oils from the pets are starting to get over the coat. The fibers and the fibers sticking to each other. You also see this in the place where the pet likes to sleep. Wherever they lay, that whole area is going to start to kind of flatten out. And the reason that carpet’s flattening out because the oils have gotten coded all of the carpet. And the carpet’s kind of laying on and sticking to itself. So when we come in there we use a little bit. We use a special mix just for places with pets and that will break up those oils, the hot water extracts. Rinse does all that out and the carpet can be left, fluffy and nice.
