Tile is one of those things that doesn’t need to be done on a regular basis; however, every now and then, you need to have a really thorough deep cleaning. The mopping that you do on a regular basis, to clean up, sweep, and mop the floor fairly easily, anyone can do that. The problem is that you’re using a percentage of soap in the mop solution and that percentage of soap dries out onto the tile. It’s just small percentage and doesn’t make too much of a difference, but over 2-5 years slowly builds up grease and other oils that get mixed in with that soap and dry into the grout lines. Mopping up the grout will not get that base layer of grease out and soap, and so there’s a certain point where you’ll get to where you need us to come in and clean it.

We put a layer of a solvent or detergents as much as the situation needs to soften up and break up the the grease and dirt in the tile. We mostly focus on the grout lines because the tile faces can just use a towel and can be wiped. The grout lines have little rough pockets where dirt is accumulated and sticks to the soap from when you clean them over time. So, we actually physically take a brush, and we scrub every one of those grout lines using hot water with detergent mixed into it. We now are physically agitating and breaking up that dirt with just manual labor going across all of the grout lines.
The next part that we do that really makes all the difference in the tile cleaning process and also in our carpet cleaning process is that we now go through and use high powered hot water rinse. It’s just clear, hot water, and we’ll rinse using the appropriate gallons of water needed to remove all of that dirt and debris that we’ve now broken and softened up, thoroughly rinsing out. This is the part that’s missing in most people’s mop cycle. They do a wet mop to try to get stuff up, but they don’t ever go through a huge amount of water to really dilute all of the soap and chemical that they have used to break up and clean the tile.
