Most people tell me they end up with some inexpensive ad and when the tech gets there they give them an upsell pitch just as soon as they get there at the job. Or some times it is added to the end of the job and after the job is finished they tell the customer that it is a different amount then they originally agreed to pay for. I really started the flat rate carpet cleaning because of two things. One: I wanted to know what I was going to make before I started the job. Once I have that out of the way, then I can do whatever it takes to get the job done because I know we’ve already agreed on a price. If I have agreed on a price and it’s too cheap then I just continue to do the work because I already agreed to do it. This is what I’m going to make, it doesn’t matter if it’s $5 an hour $100 an hour once you agree to what you’re doing you just do it. You just follow through with what you’ve committed to do.
Two: With a flat rate pricing allowed us to take all of the the subjectiveness of carpet cleaning price out and remove the song and dance of trying to upsell every single customer. We can just says look at the total size of your house, that puts it in this flat rate category. Kind of like a buffet, one price covers the whole house. If your house is in this category, small, medium, large, super large, then you will know before we even start what the price will be when we are done. If you wanted to pay us before we get started the carpet cleaning will still be the same price. We won’t call you back because sorry look we we did the work, but it’s going to be double the price because I underestimated how hard this would be so you have to pay us more. That’s not how we do it. If I underestimate how hard it’s going to be then that’s on me, and I make sure that you get a good carpet cleaning for the price that you agreed to pay. That’s what our flat rate pricing does for the customer, let them know before hand, before anything has happened, exactly what it will cost. We have one part we love about all of our customers. Is that they are some of the most understanding customer. Sometimes we get behind. We think the most frustrating thing for anybody is to expect to have something done at a certain point, get past that point, and then start wondering why? Or where is the person that is supposed to be there to take care of whatever service that you’re looking to get done.
