Let us recap quickly, got my first taste of installing with my dad at age 5. Was homeschooled. Went on to try and do everything else business wise wanting to make my own name for myself. Finally gave in and used the years of experience in the carpet field to my benefit. Wanted to build computers. Found a Jeep Cherokee I really wanted. Worked hard to get the Tulsa Housing Authority contract so I could afford the Jeep.
It is surprising how a goal can really help you to go the extra mile. Finding that Jeep Cherokee would push me into carpet installation because I now wanted to earn enough money before they sold it. So I took any work that my father’s business just didn’t do. So if he had overflow work or stuff that they weren’t going to do he just would refer it to me. I got connected to somebody at the Tulsa Housing Authority and they let me know that the they do an annual contract for their carpet cleaning services and their carpet installation services. At the time I didn’t have the carpet cleaning equipment yet, but if I had a Jeep and a trailer I could install carpet for sure. So I started my own business mostly just so that I could buy a Jeep Cherokee. The quickest way was to take on work that I already knew how to do. That was one of the early motivations for starting Complete Carpet, that you can reach us at 918-494-7093 we’ve been carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998. Back to ‘97 I was in my senior year and I’m looking at different opportunities that I can do after college. What I could do to help pay my way through college and so I can buy the things I wanted during that process. So I decided to go and bid on the Tulsa Housing Authority contract for carpet installation. I had the skill set for it, if I got the contract I would definitely be able to buy the Jeep and a trailer because I would then need it. So I went out and started Carpet Care Installation in January 1998 so that I could bid on the THA contract. To my complete surprise, I think Febuary of 98, I won the contract and I was in business. With my dark blue Jeep Cherokee and trailer I started into the first year of Complete Carpet before I knew carpet cleaning Tulsa would become the final destination. I got a few highschool friends to help me part time and we continued my first year of college. I choose to spend the next year at Rhema. I always planned to spend a year at Rhema after high school.
All of these events started to push me towards carpet cleaning Tulsa. But I still thought this was something that I was using to start my computer business Comp Care. I was starting to learn that really at the end of the day it’s not specifically what you want to do that drives you. It’s more what people want you to do. That you have to respond to the need someone has and find a way to fulfill it in a better way than everyone else. I still wasn’t quite ready for carpet cleaning Tulsa. I was still doing the carpet installation as a way to start my computer business. So after my year at Rhema I spent all of 2000 saving and building for my next big business. This was going to be it. I had the yellow page ad, with a matrix like background, with my perfect phone number 664-COMP even a Computer Repair guy cartoon. I was all set, 2001 was going to be my year to nail it. Problem was this was the exact same time that the dot net bubble burst. All of a sudden the market was flooded with thousands of tech guys out of work looking to do computer repair. My big dream came to a screeching halt. I was faced with a major problem and decision to make. With no big computer exit from carpet installation I was faced with another big problem. I was quickly realizing that you can’t install carpet for a very long time. It was the second highest injury job after roofing. Most guys hurt their knee or back in the first five years. Now I was starting to understand why my dad didn’t do installation. I needed to pivot quick to find a way out of the situation I was in. Carpet cleaning Tulsa was the answer!
I connected with the Tulsa Housing Authority and won their carpet cleaning contract. I bought my first carpet cleaning machine and an old van and started expanding my customers to service everything to do with carpet. The problem was everyone still called Carpet Care Installation only ever looking for someone to install carpet. But I was ready to carpet cleaning Tulsa and surrounding communities now. Just no one knew it. It was time to rebrand. Sometimes you have to know when to pivot and expand what you can do. Sometimes that means reworking how you tell that story. I wanted everyone to know that I could offer a complete service, a total carpet care experience. Total Carpet care? Maybe Complete service carpets. Still not right, Complete Carpet Care? Closer but kind of wordy. Complete Carpet! Eureka, that was it. Complete Carpet, Tulsa’s carpet cleaning Experts. Finally after all those tries I found the business I was always looking for. Sometimes we have to explore the world in search of the very thing we could do all along.
