Today I want to talk again about a spots in your carpet, those reoccurring spots, what you can do to try to help to maintain the life and longevity of your carpet. I just did a job recently for a customer who is looking forward to replacing their carpet in the next couple of months. So you’d think if you’re going to replace your carpet soon, why get your carpets cleaned? And I think this is something that a lot of people, uh, haven’t really thought of is that every day you need to enjoy your carpet. You need to enjoy your house. If you are going to get your carpet clean, that doesn’t mean you stop vacuuming even though you’re going to pay money to have your carpet clean. Carpet Cleaner Tulsa is in our fiber.

It still needs to, um, every couple of days or once a week, the vacuum. So in three weeks from now you’re gonna get your carpets cleaned, but you still should have at least three to 10 times. You vacuum the carpets between now and then because cleaning the carpets and at a point in the future does it keep them clean right now. And one of the things that you can do to maintain that is to do a little spot cleaning. And so we want to go over some best practice tips on cleaning the spots out of your carpet. Spot cleaning can be very similar to carpet cleaning is just done on a very small scale. If I’ve got a small spot in my house, I do not pull out the my big carpet cleaning unit. Start the van up, pull all the hoses in and treat the spot and clean it with the full carpet cleaner. Tulsa’s Carpet Cleaner since 1998.

I go grab a shot back out of the garage and I spray bottle of hot water and in 60 seconds I have removed that spot. It’s taken me longer than 60 seconds just to set the band up. It typically takes about five minutes to get all the hoses out, get the van up and running to get all of the chemicals and bring all the items and tools in that I needed to do, operate the big truck mounted unit efficiently and so on a little spot I’m going to just grab my shot back and then a bottle of hot water and just clean it out myself. Now if I had to do the whole room that way, I may have only take 60 seconds to get set up, but if it will take me hours to finish an entire room because it’s such a small unit, it’s got a little small three or four inch head on it. And so to go across a 16 by 16 room could take me two hours because you’re just doing it all by hand. Whereas I could do it in five to 10 minutes with the large carpet cleaner. And so you’ve got to figure out what’s the right tool for the job. And so today I want to go over those small spots, not cleaning your whole house. Just that the Oh moments where your kid comes in carrying a plate with a hotdog and catch up on it. And then he drops the hotdog and ketchup mixture straight to the face first onto the floor and you pick it up and you’re like, now it’s sticky and slimy into the carpet and you try to wipe it up, but you realize that it’s not going to be good enough. And so that’s where we come in and help you with this series. This tip series right here is to get you to where you will feel confident about getting your carpet clean. So the three main, let’s start off with what not to do before we get into what to do because sometimes we just get in a rush, jump in there and then we’ve all had a horror story that turned, things did not go so well. We tried to clean the spot and it became worse and worse and worse than with feel. And we start to panic, we start to try to work harder and then we damaged the fiber and then the hole. And it just becomes something that we don’t ever want to try to touch again. And so some of us have buyer’s remorse. I trying to clean the carpet themselves. We’ve got that. It’s like getting knocked off the horse. You don’t really want to get back off. So let me tell you the three things that you shouldn’t do when trying to clean your carpet. That way you can know what to avoid if you’re more confident as we tell you the things you should do to get those carpets clean. So number one, do not aggressively scrub the carpet. This is where a lot of times you will take a spot, make it bigger or wider, or you’ll work it into the carpet instead of working out of the carpet. And so a lot of times I’ve had customers who’ve done this and there’s now a frayed spot we talked about in our last podcast about aggressive rubbing. We’ll unwind the fibers and caused them to become tangled into each other. It’s like creating dreadlocks in your carpet. And so you’ve gotta be careful about over scrubbing the carpet. You physically don’t want to rub it back and forth. You want to blot it or optimally use a shot back or something that can just directly suck it out without having to break down the fiber a second. The thing that we’ve seen people do is they start off by using a bunch of soap to try to break down the chemical or they, they break the chemical down with chemical. They, you know, whatever’s in the carpet, they use more spray foam, more um, stuff, and they try to break it down the spot completely and they think that the stain remover, the spot remover will remove the spot all on its own. And so they end up putting a lot of soap into the carpet and that causes a new spot to appear because you’ve now got too much soap sitting there in the carpet collecting new dirt. And then third, the thing that most people have a hard time with is that they don’t jump on the spot right away. There is something about even if I could get to paint right away, uh, you could even rent some out by a, uh, you can get some of that paint out just by getting onto it right away. So sometimes the air that people make is that they don’t get to it quick enough. You can get to something if you don’t know about it. That doesn’t mean you can’t still clean it up later, but if you see something happen, don’t throw a piece of newspaper over it and say, I’ll get back to this later. Take care of it right then because you can get to it right? Then you can rinse it out much quicker and much more efficient, um, out of the cleaning process, then things will break down. Now let’s get to what you can do, right? And those three things. The way that people see the magnify themselves is that they waited too long on a spot and then they tried to clean it and they can’t get it out. They tried to scrub too hard on a spot and now it’s this big puffy cotton ball mess and it doesn’t look like the rest of the carpet, or they use too much soap and this area still looks dirty perfectly.
