Welcome to the carpet, DM podcast, carpet cleaning and Tulsa since 1998 I am your host, Nathan Sabrina’s with complete carpet. Today we’re going to talk about making sure that you follow up with what you need to get done. This is through everything in our life, but we want to talk about it on a carpet cleaning standpoint. Uh, one thing that is imperative is that you follow a process or procedure that you know works every time. A lot of times the people run into stress are the main causes of frustration in our lives is trying to do something we think will work and discovering that it doesn’t. And a lot of times it’s because we thought it might work. We didn’t know for sure it would work, but we thought it might. Also any type of problem solving that needs to be done can be done so much more efficiently if you already know the proven path. Tulsa’s Carpet Cleaner since 1998.

We’ve all seen somebody, we want to have a good video of a kid for the America’s funniest home video. Here they are. This kid, they walk over, they pick up the Easter egg and it’s so cute. They picked up the Easter egg and they got their little basket. They take that beautiful Easter egg, they place it in their little basket, and then they see another Easter egg and lo and behold, it is just just inches away. So they tip before they lean forward down to the ground, pick up that egg and then in the process, the egg in the basket just rolls right out and they pick the bag up. They put it in their basket, they looked at it. Oh my goodness. There is another egg nuts, the same egg. They just, they just picked up a second ago that fell out of the basket. But to them it looks like a brand new egg that’s, they reached down to pick up that egg and the previous egg balls out too. And they do this constant circle is they reached out to pick up the egg and drop out the egg that they just picked up and it was very funny. But the reality is that sometimes we get ourselves trapped in this doom loop where we pick up an egg, leaned down to pick up the egg. And as we picked it up, another egg fell out and we looked down and say, Oh wow, I didn’t know there was three eggs down. I thought there was just the two eggs I picked up. Well I’ll just pick up this other egg. Wow. Now there’s four eggs. We never looked at our basket to see that we’re dropping the egg out that we had been picking up. And so sometimes we’re a, that might be evidence in that we miss an area. We’re missing something, not, not realizing that there’s no eggs in our basket or that we do something more often than we should. We cleaned it area and then come back and we cleaned it again and then we come back and we cleaned it again. Cause we weren’t sure that we’d actually gotten a correctly done the first time. And a checklist helps with that tremendously because now you can get out there and you, if that child was tracking the egg they picked up, then they can look in their basket and say, does the number of eggs I picked up match the number of eggs in my basket? And so as we’re going through a home, we always do a walkthrough first because we want to know is how many rooms, what am I looking at to check off my mental to do list? If you show me five rooms and I know I need to get five areas done, if I use, show me six areas and then I’ll know I’ve got six areas to do. If you show me two, then I know there’s two to be done. But a lot of times we don’t ask the simple questions that can give us the solution to the more complex answers later is that we need to be aware of what it is that we need to accomplish. So step number one is to write down the goal, the what it is you’re going to accomplish. What is it that you’re trying to get? Or we’re trying to get to, cause a lot of times we don’t know what we’d consider to be finished or completed. I gave my kids this example once and I think it’s a good example though. Humorous. It’s also um, correct. Tulsa’s Carpet Cleaner since 1998.

If you think about it is that when we go to the bathroom, we all go to the bathroom. Everyone does and if you’re out at a public place for guys, we’ll go in, we’ll go up to a year old, we’ll use the restroom and then we have two types of people that leave the restroom at that point. One type of person does not leave the restroom. They leave the urinal. They do not leave the restroom. They go to the sink and they wash their hands. They may be a quick washer, they may be a slow washer, they may do the full happy birthday twice, but they will go over and say, I’m not finished. I’m not done in the restroom. My checklist, my to do list, my completion of my restroom tasks is not finished until I have gone and washed my hands and made it out. Tulsa’s highest and most reviewed Carpet Cleaner.

Now there’s another group of people that, uh, may go into the, uh, the bathroom and they are okay going into the restroom and coming back out without doing anything. So they come through, they come in, they come out and they don’t do anything at all. Uh, and they have decided that they’re just going in, they’re going out and they’re not going to accomplish or have done anything that day. So they are, uh, decided that this was not that important. You know, they’re okay to have gone to the bathroom and finished going to the bathroom the moment that they’ve zipped up and they had out the door. But I can tell you both those two guys, both those two scenarios, neither one of those two guys walk out of that restroom with their pants still down. Uh, they did not, uh, go in there with the anticipation that I’m going to walk out of here, completed. Tulsa’s Carpet Cleaner since 1998.

Speaker 1: (05:02)
I haven’t finished if my pants are still down. So if you’ve still got your pants open, you still got to pull up your pants or put your pants back on whether you’re not done going to the bathroom. So you know that right? Then in that scenario you have finished once you have at a minimum, put your pants back on and I think in our lives there’s a lot of times that we have things, we have scenarios, we have obligations that we’ve say where I finished, am I finished? Once I’m finished making the food or the finished ones that put away the ingredients for the food, do I leave the milk out on the counter or do I put the milk back in the fridge? At what point in my mind am I finished at what point will I do more later? And I think it’s important because when you’re trying to accomplish your tasks, for us, it’s carpet cleaning. We need to make sure that we’ve done all of the things that have done proper. To make a quick truncated list, you need to see the rooms to clean. You need to clean the room, spray the rooms to clean. You need to clean the rooms to clean, and then you need to look over it a second time to make sure that you’re happy with the results that you got before you move on to the next room. And then also work your way backwards so that you’re not walking, having to walk back over the room and put your own new footprints and marks. You want to leave it nice and fresh and clean looking. And then at the end you wanted to go and check with the customer and have them sign your to do list. This is similar to having children come to you and you check off to make sure that they have completed their chores or complete their tasks. And then you have that layer of accountability. So you know that in case I missed or forgot something, I’ll get a second set of eyes to look at it and say, yep, it looks good to me perfectly. And he tells us since 1998 we are complete. Perfect.
