Speaker 1: (00:01)
Welcome to the carpet DM podcast. I am your host, Nathan Sabrina’s. Today we’re going to talk about doing what you were made to do. Carpet cleaning Tulsa since 1998 we are complete carpet, so give us a call today at (918) 494-7093. Uh, one of the things that we always do with every employee that we’re going to hire is that we do a shadow day. Shadow day is where you go and try to do what it is that you think that you want to do throughout life. There’s plenty of things that we will be presented with that we think that we may like as a child or with changes probably every month to year you’ve got something new and different that you’re excited about or intrigued about. But the interesting thing is that for the most part you never go after or pursue something that you have zero interest in or you don’t care about. Carpet Cleaner Tulsa since 1998.

Speaker 1: (00:55)
And because I believe we are designed to do a plethora of things is a large range of things that awesome amount of things that we can do. We have the capacity to do, but there’s also the things that we would like, but outside of that there are as a large amount of things that are possible to do but we don’t want to do. And it’s very different what those want tos are for everybody. Everyone has a different pain tolerance. Everyone has a different frustration tolerance. Everyone has a different patient’s level. Everyone has a different um, aptitude towards different items. Some of it is learned, some of it is ingrained in our behavioral patterns and some of it is actually just a form and a function of how we were designed. Um, physical, uh, physical aptitude based upon just our body chemistry and the way that God designed us and made us do begin with. Carpet Cleaner Tulsa is in our fiber.

Speaker 1: (01:54)
As an example, my mother was a very good and making desserts. She had a attitude towards making dessert like pies and cakes. She, that part she was able to figure out, but when it came to doing regular food, she just, for whatever reason, just couldn’t, even with the recipe, just did not really able to get it down very well. She could do maybe like a soup, but anything like outside of that, we jokingly said that she had the capacity to burn water, but if it came to desserts, she could make a fake, amazing, awesome dessert. Or if it came to doing stuff with her hands, she was all fucked. Cause we all know somebody who no matter what they do and they just can’t keep plants alive. And then the other person, if you just put a plant in their house, it somehow seems to thrive without any assistance at all. Carpet Cleaner Tulsa since 1998.

Speaker 1: (02:47)
It’s because I believe that we’ve gotten aptitudes. You’ve got things. If you were designing and creating, you can do that. We really, we Excel at when putting in those situations. I think any manager is good. Uh, their main point is to try to find and make sure people are in the right place. We’ve, uh, I think we’ve all seen somebody as we’re going through our lives where you look over and you realize that that guy got promoted to a position of incompetency. Uh, sometimes that’s because their eyes were bigger than their stomach. And other times it’s because the manager or whoever is uh, over that thought, Hey, you’re good at this one thing. Maybe you’ll be good at managing people who do that thing. And those are two completely different skill sets is to be able to motivate, manage people as opposed to motivate, manage yourself to do something similar to anyone who is an amazing an accountant. Carpet Cleaner Tulsa is in our fiber.

Speaker 1: (03:40)
Just because you have that accounting skill or you’re good with numbers doesn’t specifically mean you’re good with manual labor. And typically if you’re good with manual labor, numbers aren’t one of your biggest suits. And we are drawn towards our strengths. We typically are drawn towards our weakness. We’re drawn towards those strengths. So because we know that that is what we find easiest to do, the human body is just like water. Water always finds the path of least resistance. It’ll flow in the path that it’s supposed to go to and people are the same way. Yes we do. Do we work hard and prove ourselves to try to do stuff or remember all the hard work and all the fruit that we do is because it’s what we want to improve. It’s what we want to do. And so almost, I mean I’m sure there’s some work through history where you’d have maybe someone that is just purely a slave and they’re being forced to do something against their will. Carpet Cleaner Tulsa since 1998.

Speaker 1: (04:35)
But even if it’s a situation like that, most of the people, the slave masters are taking people and putting them in roles that they believe that these people directly fill the most. Like if you need heavy things move, you don’t pick the small fragile children. You think the big strong guys, you know, pick the weak guys who looked like they would fall over if you blow on them, you pick the guys who look like they’re Hardy and they a good stock. When you’re picking out teams for a, in high school or middle school, you look across the thing and you kind of size people up based upon their physical attitude. When you’re picking up teams for any type of a mental challenge, you go through it. You take your assessment of people based upon the way that they communicate, the way that they talk. Because you’re wanting to see who’s got it, who’s a good communicator, and you’re not not going to pick the wallflower to lead your debate team. Carpet Cleaner Tulsa is in our fiber.

Speaker 1: (05:33)
You’re not going to pick the kid who stutters has a hard time articulating to be up in the middle of a play and put them in an uncomfortable, awkward circumstance. They’re going to pick the person who just can’t stop talking. So you want to make sure that you find the right fit. Everything does have a fit. Just like uh, for every, I love the old saying, for every glove there is a hand. For every person there is a a thing that they are good at doing and is good by that, which is why here at complete carpet we do a shadow day with our guys. We go through and talk first within interviews to see whether they would be interested in doing it and they’re showing up for the interview so they thought, Hey, this is something I might be able to do, something I would be interested in doing. Carpet Cleaner Tulsa since 1998.

Speaker 1: (06:17)
So that eliminates everybody who would be interested in carrying forward cleaning or doing dual duties. Then we take them out of shadow day to say, Hey, here’s actually the practical application of doing that. What does that actually like that when they get out there and they see what it’s actually like, they find, Oh, Hey, this is awesome. This is for me. Or Oh yeah, Nope, nevermind. I’m going to tap out. That’s not for me. And finding that right connection and fit. I think throughout all life, you should try something before you buy it. Make sure that it’s something that for you, not for everybody, but for you, really inspires you and inspires your soul. Capitulating Tulsa since 1998 we are complete carpets and give us a call today at (918) 494-7093.
