Welcome to the carpet DM podcast. I am your host Nathan with complete carpet. Today we’re going to talk about getting things done in a timely manner. Carpet cleaning Tulsa. Since 1998 we are complete carpet. So give us a call today at (918) 494-7093 and get on the road to re enjoying your carpet again or find us on the web at complete carpet, tulsa.com so getting things done in a timely manner. Cakes, you having the capacity to play chess. So many times we show up somewhere, we wait to be told what to do and this in turn causes a good chunk of our lives to just be wasted. We want to be accomplished, we want to accomplish things, but we haven’t written down what we want to accomplish and we haven’t figured out when we will do it. So the reality is a lot of times we find ourselves either filling time, just staring at our phones, watching TV, letting something else fill our time for us, or we wander around looking for something to do. We know that there are things to do but we haven’t planned them out. So when we think about all the different things, there’s not something specific that we know is actionable. Yes, I know I would like to get the back yard taken care of or the clutter that one room or get all of this stuff done, but we don’t have a plan, have an action steps to do it. So we don’t know if we’re on task or if we’re on time or on budget. It’s similar to just telling somebody to do something and then just give you a bill later. A lot of times that later that bill is a big surprise because they just did things without any constraints, without any focus or form to say, here’s what these are the guidelines you have to do it. Have you had a big pasture with no fence, the horses would run away and so you have a fence to keep the horses in, to keep them corralled to keep things within their proper limitation, the proper place. We don’t want storm water just running over everywhere, flooding everything. We want it to go down and get storm drains and to flow away from the city into the rivers and streams so that we can create a tributaries. We can create streams, we can create pathways for the water to move so we could travel on the dry land. If not every time it rains heavy, everything gets covered in water and we can’t go anywhere for a while. And so we need to create those pathways. There’s the tributaries, the places that things should go to make them food. One of the easy ways to do this is they have a schedule. Every time we’d clean carpets, every day that I go out there, I don’t go out there, look at the day and see, I don’t know what carpets I’ll get down, but I’ll try to get some done today. Know we’ve got a specific set time set schedule that we’re going to clean carpets from, uh, from this time to that time. And then every two hours we’ve got another job that’s in the pipeline or the other works or we know that there isn’t one. And so we’re going to do take a break for food or we’re going to, we know that we have now 30 minutes to get to the next job where we have an hour to get to the next job. We have a specific set amount of time. And then what you do with that time until you get to that city taught sign is up to you or the cleaning Tulsa since 1998. Uh, having these things, these pillars in our place. And it, it could be as simple as just saying, okay, at, uh, I get off work at five, so by six o’clock I want to have done any cleanup in the kitchen I need to do. And by six 30, I’m going to start dinner at seven o’clock, we’re all going to sit down to eat dinner. Uh, and we will make a decision when we say, don’t you dare, do we want to just talk or do we want to watch a show while we eat dinner? And then from seven 30 to eight 30, we will either play games or watch a specific movie. It’s Wednesday. So we’re going to watch a movie. It’s Tuesdays, so we’re gonna play games. It’s Monday. So we’re going to watch a TV show and then at eight 30 everyone needs to start getting ready for bed. Now we may stay up later than that, but they need to be ready for bed at eight 30 so that they are preparing in case there’s anything else that needs to happen. They’ll be ready when it is time to go to bed. Tulsa’s Carpet Cleaner since 1998.

And then at nine o’clock we say our prayers and we talked to the kids in bed so that from nine 15 nine 20 til 10 30 is a couple of times where we can sit and watch a show that just the adults want to do. And so you’ve got it planned out so your brain knows what to expect. And the awesome thing about our bodies, awesome thing about the creation that we’ve been given is that we play chess all the time. You don’t realize it, but you tell somebody you’ve got one hour to do something. They will start thinking about the thing they need to do in one hour from now. And what can they do in the next hour time they have. So you’ll start thinking, can I play a video game? Can I, should I clean up my room? Should I call my sister? Should I, you know, sit down and do some research on a project that you know you have one hour, not just an unlimited time so you don’t squander it. You get focused. Stress helps everybody to focus and accomplish things without stress. You wander around aimlessly and you don’t accomplish something because there’s no reason to. He tells somebody, Hey, this next week could you do the dishes? I guarantee you by the end of the week is the time that they’re going to do the dishes. They won’t go in. They do it. If you go in there and say, look, I need you to do the dishes. You got 30 minutes. I need them knocked out before we leave for church. Well then in 30 minutes, boom, dishes are done. Does it mean that they can’t, could have done the dishes faster? They probably could probably couldn’t do that in 15 minutes, but you gave them 30 minutes. Tulsa’s Carpet Cleaner since 1998.

Speaker 1: (05:18)
And so they took the whole 30 minutes. And we as people naturally gravitate towards doing stuff in the whole time that was given to us as opposed to trying to beat the time. Some people are competitive, some people are always trying to beat out the expectation given to them. But for the most part, if we’re given an hour, we take the whole hour. You know, if you tell someone they need to do something and it’s going to have this much time to do it, they’re probably going to take that much time to do it. And which is why when you set expectations for yourself, we were working on a job and we finished a Pew. It took us 30 minutes to finish cleaning this view. And so we then said, okay, let’s put a timer. Let’s see if we can beat 30 minutes. And by the time we got finished, we were able to do, as we all started working together, um, we were able to get down to 15 minutes. We cut the time in half because we had a timer and we knew how much time we’re spending. We started looking at ways to make it more efficient and you how we all help in the process, cause three of us working all together, rowing the boat in the same direction makes the boat row faster. If three of us are working on separate things and we’re conflicting with each other and getting each other’s ways, we’ll, it’ll take twice as long. Proper cleaning Tulsa since 1998 we are complete carpet. Give us a call today.
